Literally my new favorite place in Durham. Pure ghetto-grunge-casual goodness.
First time I went I got the two taco plate with Birria beef for $10 (all plates are $10) and a shot of whiskey for $7. I watched something like cannonball run on the backdrop of the bar and thought I had died and straight up gone to heaven.
Second time I got the Birria beef burrito, served with Fritos corn chips and watched Galaxy Quest on the backdrop of the bar. Good lord. I had died and this was, in fact, heaven. The Birria burrito was better than the first.
i’m going to do a separate review for the taco stand in the back, but it’s all of it. It’s one perfect combination of awesome atmosphere dive-ish bar, classic retro 80s movies on the backdrop, good alcohol and/or cheap alcohol, and literally to die for $10 Mexican plate options. Once you go you’re gonna want to go every night, and lucky for you you can afford to

The drinks here are awesome and the bartenders are always playing the best music. The vibe is dark and chill late at night, which is my favorite time to go. Sometimes I’m craving a cheap beer and sometimes I’m craving a well made martini. They can always accommodate either one, which most places can’t do. Never had a bad time here!

Stopped by on the snowy night this week. Bruce was serving and setting a very cozy vibe on the aux. Monday and Tuesday all drafts are $5. Had a pint of Guinness. When I asked for another Bruce acknowledged the keg was tapped and gave me the second on the house.
Long story short—Remy’s / Ruby’s please have Bruce tend bar downstairs as much as he wants to, absolute rock solid guy who created a welcoming vibe on a chilly evening.

We popped in for a quick drink after dinner. This place doesn’t look very impressive and the inside has seen better days. But boy, the drinks were on point!!! Whoever the bartender was really did a terrific job!! Definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for a quick drink on your pub crawl.
