I order for to go and ask what the spinach noodles are like: “I really don’t know anything about them.” Like bro don’t you work here?? You don’t know about the food you’re serving? Then their least expensive special isn’t even a ramen dish, the guy describes it as “dry” but with a sauce and I get turned off and don’t order it. So instead I order the to tonkotsu ramen with the spinach noodles, pork chashu and the soy marinated egg.
I got three whole small pieces of the pork chashu for 4.50. The soy marinated egg was extra too, tastes like they made it a while ago. The broth I ordered it spicy and at the bottom of the takeaway bowl is literally just a tonnnn of a spice. Not even a spicy broth but just spice thrown in there. Agter tasting my food like I just don’t get it?? Amazing location, decent space but the prices are horrendous and so was the quality! Worst ramen I’ve ever had, NO surprise it was nearly empty at lunch time on a Saturday. Prices need to come wayyyy down for this to be close to what you actually get.
Hit up Ramen KoKo for decent prices and amazing ramen. Can’t give this place another shot, there were red flags from the get go.
I came in with high expectations due to all the glowing reviews of this place. We were greeted at the door and handed menus and had the freedom to choose any table. The service was alright. Nothing memorable or like there was an effort someone made to go out of their way to provide exceptional service.
We ordered a chicken kore-age which was described as a honey glazed with Korean gojujang sauce. The first disappointment was how this appetizer came about 10 mins after our ramen was served. We’ve already started digging into our ramen before we had time to enjoy the appetizer. The second disappointment was the size of this appetizer! Shrinkflation at its finest!! $11?! No way like 6 tiny chunks of meat cost that much. I should have bought a whole rotisserie chicken from Costco instead. Lol. And the flavor just felt like someone attempted to fry it and drizzled on honey and gojujang sauce on it and called it a day. It felt like eating your leftovers after you microwave it. Go see my other reviews of ramen places to see how their chicken karaage looks in comparison to this for a cheaper price. I even had to ask the server if this was the actual appetizer or a side dish. This was so embarrassing to look at and not appetizing at all.
The Ramen:
I got the basic Vegan ramen. The broth was good and better than the broth my husband got but nothing too amazing. It just felt like someone sprinkled a lot of chili pepper in my broth. I wish the egg, spinach and mushrooms could have already been part of the basic ramen dish instead of individually paying for each item. The tofu was literally four very slim slices. I should have just made my own ramen at home.
The menu is structured differently from what you see online. You have to pay for each individual topping which seems like a scam for a tiny amount that they put.
My husband got their signature “Redlight special” (not pictured). I saw the list of items describing this dish and thought that it would have been some special ramen to cost $26 for a regular sized bowl. My husband was not thrilled with the taste of the broth. It lacked depth of flavor and tasted more heavily spiced with chili powder. I did not see anything special about it to justify the price. I think we would have been better off buying instant ramen and it would have had more flavor.
Save your money and eat elsewhere. So disappointing and will not recommend or return. 🙁
Because of Madi, this is now the only place I want to go for ramen. She made me feel like a valued customer, and I really hope I get to see her every time I visit. Thank you, Madi, for making my experience so enjoyable! Not to mention how delicious the Ramen was!!
Highly recommend this place
