I like the food at Cafe Allentown if you order before 5-6 p.m. The staff and cooks pay attention to what you’re ordering and you can pretty much count on your order to be correct because they take the time to check it. You should also check your order as well.
Now, if you order after 5-6 p.m. it’s pretty much a crap shoot and the service is bad. If you call in an order someone who doesn’t speak clear English will answer the phone and repeat your order back to you at least 5 times and each time it will still be wrong. They will frequently tell you there are certain items on the menu you can’t order because they have turned the grill off. They stay open until 9:30 but I have been told at 6 pm the grill has been turned off.
One day I ordered a steak and cheese at 7 pm. No problem. Picked up my sub. A week later I ordered a steak and cheese at 6 pm and was told the grill was already turned off. I would suggest not ordering from Cafe Allentown after 6 pm. Late morning and early afternoon is the best times to order. Anytime after 5-6 pm is seriously a crap shoot with the staff/cooks because the shift changes and you’re getting people who don’t speak very good English and are short on manners and they are rushing to prepare the food as if someone is standing over them with a gun to make sure that they don’t waste time and go into overtime, hence, provide less quality service so that they can close promptly at 9:30 p.m.

Today’s visit is 3rd time. I eat chicken & cheese sandwich and fruit cup for dinner. It is very delicious and good price. last time I ate diverse food at salad bar at lunch time. unfortunately there is less choice of salad bar in dinner time. But still good. I definitely go again.

Purchased crabs legs and salmon dinner. Never had clusters of crab legs that all were light and empty in the cluster part of the legs.
The salmon was very dry and overcooked! The veggies were cut like a preschooler cut them big blocky chunks.
Took the salmon back today(next day)and the Asian man was rude!! He tells me.. a day later yes it’s going to be dry… Meanwhile I brought him back the veggies/the full cup of rice/and the dried salmon!!! I got fried fish instead!! This was fried way too hard

Really good food, friendly service, ordered the catfish dinner, the catfish was good, cooked through and boneless. I loved the potato wedges! I will be trying a few more of the menu items.

Generous serving, but nothing extraordinary. Got fried croaker fish and it was full of bones. Had to work hard to separate the bones from the meat. Potato wedges were soggy. Not recommended.

One pcs of fish on sub … really the lunch special for the same price has 2 pcs. Don’t use on-line mine cause u will be disappointed. Oh the menu in the restaurant the same… don’t have everything they have listed

There is a very large selection of menu items to choose from. I decided to go with the catfish and was not disappointed. With that being said, I was not a fan of any of the sides in the combo.
