The vibe is simple – clearly the focus is on the food, that’s fine by me. The folks behind the counter and in the kitchen were genuinely warm and friendly.
Our food came out quickly, and my niece and I were legit excited when it arrived. Like, pause-the-conversation, eyes-light-up excited.
We split everything we ordered (why don’t more people do this?) and then proceeded to eat in that so slow yummy way – eye closed and long “mmm”s – it was like a religious experience. The surf and turf fries *chefs kiss!* – the beef gravy was rich and out of this world, it stole the show. Mains: both had Mahi Mahi – mine grilled; hers fried. Both were fresh, perfectly cooked, and absolutely delish
This isn’t a flashy spot, if you’re looking to be “seen”, go somewhere else. If you want great seafood, no hype – paper plates and plastic utensils – and you (like me) enjoy the quiet thrill of finding a tucked away place you’ll immediately want to tell people about—this is it
The highlight of our meal was undoubtedly the Big Daddy Po Boy. It was generously filled with perfectly fried shrimp, fried oysters, crunchy lettuce, and a deliciously homemade spicy mayo sauce that elevated the dish to new heights. I also couldn’t get enough of the gumbo soup; it was rich, hearty, and bursting with the essence of the sea, offering a wonderful blend of spices and fresh ingredients that warmed the soul.
Adding to this amazing food experience was our friendly server, who made the dining experience even more enjoyable. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and provided fantastic recommendations that guided us to some of the best choices on the menu.
I wholeheartedly recommend Shannon’s Seafood Kitchen to anyone looking to indulge in delectable seafood. Don’t miss the Big Daddy Po Boy and the gumbo soup—they’re must-tries! You won’t be disappointed!
We both ordered the Ultimate Seafood Platter, which came with fried catfish, shrimp, fried soft shell carb, okra, and coleslaw. My son swapped his okra for fries, and everything was hot, fresh, and perfectly seasoned. We decided to dine in since we were starving and the place was quiet with empty tables.
What really stood out—beyond the delicious food—was the care and pride the cook put into our meal. She gave my son an extra catfish filet because one of his had broken in half. It might seem like a small gesture, but it spoke volumes about the pride she takes in what she serves.
We’ll be back in town this fall, and this place is definitely on our list to visit again. Highly recommend!
