Great little stop for food right next to the pier. It offers some delightful and unique tastes. We had 6 adults with 6 kids and was able to find food for everyone to eat. The homemade curly fries were a hit. The kids were tickled to find fries in their breakfast burrito. Hubby had the hamburger and stated it hit the spot. There was outdoor picnic tables and indoor seating (though very small inside). Would come eat here again.

What a nice city. We’ll, village, because it is very small. Valdez Center is also small but saturated with different nice places. The heart of Center is charter loading dock/fish cleaning unit which is always busy, waiting for their fishing catch. But, simply turn around – restoran, cafeteria, coffee, snacks are here. The Potatoe one lures you with delicious smell and hunger moves everyone there. Yes, this is what your kids and you need. The service and food are excellent.

Ordered the smoked salmon chowder ($13), basket of “curly” fries ($7) and the Bonanza Burger w/ side of fries ($21).
The chowder: super thick, too much going on, strong dill, cream and clam flavor, can barely taste the salmon. Still edible to me, but husband it was “horrible”. Came with some toasted white bread, no flavour but something to use to dip (if it was sourdough I couldn’t tell)
Fries: decent, mostly bits and pieces, maybe 1 curly to every 20 pieces. Nothing to write home about.
The burger: I didn’t taste it. Husband says worst burger he’s ever had, dense and tastes like processed meat, he swears it had, like, hot dog ground up in it.
Customer service was friendly.
Wouldn’t recommend based on the dishes I had. Won’t be back to try other things.

We fast became fans of the menu at The Potato and made them our go to for breakfast most days we were in town. The menu was unique, the food excellent, and the service outstanding every time. They had an excellent selection of beverages as well. It is counter service with both indoor and outdoor seating.

This place was the best. Fast, easy, and definitely yummy. Everything you would want. Food was tasty and I got the black bean corn wrap and it was so healthy and delicious! The staff were so accommodating and nice. Highly recommend!!!

People were friendly and the lively atmosphere was enjoyable. I visited at an ideal time when live music was playing, allowing people to dance and enjoy themselves. The weather was also pleasant. Everything felt incredibly beautiful and relaxed.
The po boy and cheesesteak are both delicious. If you’re craving something flavorful, I highly recommend trying the rosemary garlic fries instead of the regular ones.

Right across the street from the harbor, the Potato provides a nice hearty breakfast that kept me fueled for the whole fishing day!

Ok, so know what you’re in for here. A lot of potato based food, and I mean a lot. I had the Spudniks Supreme, and it was a huge portion of what I can best describe as comfort food. It has indoor and outdoor seating and a soda fountain so teh refills don’t cost you anything, unusual for most of the places I’ve visited in Alaska so far. Also the view of the water is nice.
