Coming all the way from CA, we’ve been seriously craving real Mexican food (which has been surprisingly hard to find in VA ). We stumbled upon No. 1 Taco in Virginia Beach and decided to give it a shot.

I ordered the NorCal Burrito—packed with carne asada, rice, beans, pico de gallo, and guacamole—and let me tell you… it was delicious. Hands down the best Mexican-style burrito I’ve found in Virginia Beach so far. The flavor was on point, and the size? MASSIVE. I easily got two meals out of it.

My husband went with the brunch burrito, loaded with his choice of meat, eggs, potatoes, and cheese. He loved it too—and once again, the portion size did not disappoint.

We also tried a horchata, which was the only letdown. Unfortunately, it didn’t taste very authentic—more like it came from a powdered mix rather than being freshly made.

Overall, the burritos alone make this spot worth checking out… just maybe skip the horchata

The best tacos in Virginia Beach. Everything tastes clean and flavorful. The quesadillas delight the palette with both warmth and flavor. The food is served at the perfect temperature. The chips and fries are exceptionally delicious. The queso is creamy and the guacamole is chunky and flavorful. Our only regret is not coming here more often. We are working on fixing that though!!

25 bucks got me a jarritos, socal burrito the size of my left arm and a birria taco.

While the cost of a burrito and taco has gone up, the taste is a Californian style of Mexican food in the east coast.

I can really appreciate it and will definitely come back when I need a taco/burrito fix. Gonna have to try the flautas next time.

Needed something quick and easy it was service was fast and nice. My kid liked her quesadilla and the main entree was decent. The tomatoes were not fresh though and the BIRRIA oh my god the BIRRIA. Worst decision I’ve made in a while was getting the birria. Good cheese but I’m pretty sure from my countless times making birria and being known for making really good birria that it’s made with beef and consume. Well the birria we got from here was PORK. And the consume was beef bouillon with some vegetables in it. I’ve never been more upset and sure this is dramatic but I take birria very serious lol.

My first time visiting and I absolutely LOVED the food! Great service and great recommendations! Tortillas were excellent and the salsas were tasty!! I know that insects are annoying, but I always wish I could enjoy my meal more without a few flies flying around. Other than that, I WILL be coming back!!

Clean and friendly staff.
Tried the socal burrito with chicken, it was very good and pretty big.
I’ve seen a few complaints about service and pricing.
My experience with the staff was ok, they’re not overly friendly but they’re certainly not rude. You’re there to eat not marry the staff, they’re not coming home with you so as long as they’re respectful and professional they’re great in my book.
Pricing… I agree it’s a bit high but so is everything else now, have you been to the grocery store lately?
They did open a business to make money and not work six days a week only to struggle with paying the bills at the end of the month.
If I see a family running a business and working hard long hours, I’m more than ok paying an extra couple of dollars for a meal to reward their honest way of making a living.
The bottom line is it’s a fairly new business, give it a shot and don’t sentence them to death because they forgot your salsa.
Will definitely be back and highly recommend this place.

Hands down the BEST customer service I have ever experienced. I’m a frequent customer, and the SoCal Burrito is to die for. Their Brunch Menu is great too; portions are big overall, so I’d recommend definitely sharing. They always have great music playing as well. Shout out to the lady with orange hair!

I wish we had a No 1 Taco in Fayetteville, NC because this place is a true gem! It’s a refreshing blend of modernism and authentic Mexican with a mix of American food that’s hard to find. From the moment you step in, you’re greeted with a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home.

The portion sizes are huge, so you’re definitely getting your money’s worth. Whether it’s tacos, burritos, or any of their other offerings, you can count on leaving with a full stomach and a satisfied smile. The service is impressively fast, and the restaurant is spotless—clearly, they take great pride in maintaining a clean and comfortable environment.

What makes No 1 Taco even more special is that it’s family-owned and operated. The family-oriented vibe is palpable, and it’s clear they put a lot of love and care into everything they do. If you’re ever in Virginia Beach, make sure to stop by No 1 Taco. It’s an experience you won’t want to miss, and I can only hope they consider opening a location in Fayetteville someday!

this place is a solid 4/5. not sure what people are talking about in the comments about their stomachs hurting – mine didnt after i had a humongous burrito that was def better than Chipotle and also made me feel like i was in SoCal! I would recommend getting a healthier option like the bowl if you have stomach problems. other than that No 1 Taco is pretty delicious and I highly recommend their No 1 Sauces 🙂

This is a festive Mexican restaurant. It’s counter service here, but the food quality is just like a full service restaurant. It actually seems to be faster. The staff was friendly and helpful. It’s fairly new; fresh and clean with vibrant colors all around. There’s Mexican music playing in the background. Prices are reasonable. Do not expect the usual complimentary nachos and salsa. The food was tasty and fresh. The Birria tacos were excellent. The burrito was a delicious sloppy mess. They lightly fry the outside of the burrito shell, giving it just enough crispness. I will be back.
