The Old Cedar Inn in West Bend is a fantastic spot all around. The food is consistently delicious, the service is friendly and attentive, and the drinks are always well made. The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and perfect for both a casual meal or a night out. The menu has plenty of great options, and everything we tried was flavorful and cooked just right. Highly recommend stopping in—you won’t be disappointed.

During our recent visit, we ordered the prime rib, pan fried walleye, fried mushrooms, vegetables, and French fries. Everything was perfectly cooked. The mushroom appetizer was very good with the dipping sauce. For a small prime rib, it was plenty and there were leftovers. The side choosen were vegetables. Ample amount was served and we had enough to take home with our entrees. French fries were ordered to share and a basket full was provided. Rolls were also provided and the cracker basket was on the table with many options. The soup was very good. I think it was pot pie. Everyone was very nice.

We visited here on a Wednesday and they had a special fish fry menu so my husband ordered the haddock. I ordered the broasted chicken. We had to wait to be seated and weren’t sure if we were supposed to seat ourselves or wait. Finally the waitress asked how many and sat us a table. She took our order and only asked what kind of potato we wanted with our meals. The food was brought out by a different person. The waitress never came back to ask how the food was or if we needed anything but she did check on other tables around us. My husband had finished his one cup of coffee and never got a refill, and there was no tartar sauce so he decided to take the fish home where he could use his own sauce. There was no coleslaw offered either but other tables had it. I was given the broasted chicken, 4 pieces and the potato. I did not know if I was supposed to have a soup or salad offered which I think I was because it was on the menu but I was not asked. The water glasses were never refilled either despite being empty as well as the coffee. The waitress never looked our way until the very end when she gave us a to go box and the bill and said to pay her. We decided we would not to go back there because the service was so bad. The food was good what they gave of it. There was only one waitress and perhaps it was too much for her but she made sure to give service to all the other tables around us perhaps because they were regulars or she knew them. We don’t know but we were definitely ignored.

Food & service are excellent, but it definitely is not the place for groups over 6 (unless sitting at separate tables is ok). This was my first time here, so I didn’t know how small bar, dining area and parking lot really are. My group sees each other only 2 or 3 times a year, so we did squeeze 2 people on one end. The broasted chicken and german potato salad are AMAZING. I also had 1/2 of a large strawberry schaum torte that reminded me of mom’s. Everyone enjoyed the food they ordered. I certainly will be back some day, but with a smaller group!

Having frequented this establishment approximately six times, I believe I can provide a justified two-star rating. The culinary offerings are acceptable, neither exceptional nor subpar. However, the service consistently falls short of expectations. Across various visits and with different servers, the pace of service has been notably slow. Tonight marks our final visit. The sole server appeared to be managing all responsibilities, including incoming calls, even though we were present prior to most of these calls, and exhibited a somewhat dismissive demeanor. We waited to be seated, despite being the only patrons waiting, and the server prioritized a phone call over acknowledging our presence. A simple greeting or an indication of being busy but available shortly would have been appreciated. As customers, a basic level of acknowledgment is expected. Upon being seated, we experienced cold air blowing directly on us from the vents. We then opted for the bar area to avoid this discomfort. After waiting at the bar for seven minutes, I inquired with the bartender if we could order directly from them. She clarified that a server would attend to us at the table adjacent to the bar. Following a further period of unacknowledged waiting, we decided to depart. I recall the food being satisfactory on previous occasions and had anticipated trying the fish tonight. However, the numerous service issues were too significant to overlook, and I hope the establishment addresses these areas for improvement.

Came for the first time to experience the all you can eat chicken. Save yourselves the time and skip this place if that’s what you want. If you do want more chicken it will take at least 20 minutes!!! Who wants to spend that much time sitting and waiting. Very clever advertising and clever way to avoid what is advertised!! Will not be back or recommend this place to anyone!!

First time here. Came for lunch with my boys and my mother after.leaving from Little Switzerland ski area. Menu is rather extensive. They had an all-you-can-eat broasted chicken option which I seldom see, not that that’s a good idea for anyone! There is only one handicap spot which was taken which made it more difficult for my mother to get inside, though no stairs. Place looks like it’s more bar focused though the back area does have a seating section. Service was a little bit slow. They only had one waitress and she was working hard, so no fault of hers. Waitress did a great job being friendly, professional, and very efficient. I got the shrimp wrap, my son got the Mac wrap, my other son got the royal burger. Everything was great, especially the burger presentation. Walking into the place didn’t expect to be the food to be so good!

We’ve always driven by this place but last night we decided to stop in and check it out. Food was awesome weight staff was great atmosphere was really good. Would highly recommend it to anybody that wants to have a great experience

After a fantastic first experience, we came back a second time. We spent $75 on a take out order. Upon getting home, we found we were missing our mozzarella sticks. We called and the lady on the phone said the realized that and they would put our name on a note for next time. ( We live in Rubicon and didn’t want to drive back). The following week we called in an order. A different woman said there was no note but she would talk to the owners. When we picked up the order they said it never happened. After we left with our order I found on our receipt that we were charged $3 more for our Perch Fish Fries than posted on their menu online. Then I was charged $3 for a takeout fee for the fish fries. We also ordered a side and was charged another $1 takeout fee for that! We will NEVER GO BACK THERE. We were a good customer that tipped well and they ripped us off for mozzarella sticks and then at least another $10. I’m sorry I spent $275 there already!
