The restaurant is bright ans spacious and easy to locate. We ordered the standard beef pho, grilled pork with vermicelli and deep fried spring rolls.
Food comes out fast and is flavourful. The beef in the pho is tender and full of meat and spring onions and the noodles are soft but not broken. The grill meat has a nice charcoal taste to it so you know they freshly grilled the meats and the deep fried spring rolls came very crispy. All items are considered large portion so a definite great value. They also have platter and bigger plate options which looks great for sharing.
Had a very similar dish back in Melbourne and have struggled to find a place that does style of Pho here in Auckland!
Easy parking being within Glenfield mall. Wide spaces between tables to cater for wheelchairs or prams.
Highly recommend!
• Vietnamese Wine Beef Stew Pho – The broth was rich and flavorful, but the beef portion was quite small, even though the meat itself was tender.
• Grilled Pork Belly on Vermicelli,
Nice and enjoyable.
Overall, the price feels a bit high for what you get. The taste is decent, but not quite wow.
I was perusing Google Maps for Pho options around Glenfield (Auckland, New Zealand) area and when I saw photos and videos of their Stone Bowl Pho special my attention was captured. At first I was almost skeptical, because how can such a grand, protein packed, and nutritious looking feast be offered at their reasonable price? Was this available daily or just one off/for special occasions? I had to find out, my curiosity and taste buds were too excited.
Lucky for me, I was seated when I arrived and served exactly what was shown in the photos. I quickly took a short video of the soup while it was steaming to appreciate the culinary artistry before diving in. Never would I have thought I could make much of a dent in the meal, but due to it being SO delicious I actually was surprised to nearly finish EVERYTHING. Only a small bowl was leftover which I took home and refrigerated.
The next day I was also pleased to see the broth had congealed, which means REAL bones were used in making it. This type of natural collagen is great for skin, joints, and more. Much healthier than other places which use artificial or ultra processed products to simply flavor their broths.
After some time, I also ordered via Uber Eats the Flamable Beef Pho for delivery after enjoying their dine-in food so much. This was super delicious too!! Very unique flavor You can truly taste the open grill type of smokiness which adds to the richness and umami.
Furthermore, the dining area is clean and vibrant. Pleasant background music and atmosphere. Good vibes Nice view of the mall too.
The staff are all kind and positive. I had wonderful service from them and pleasant conversations. Great interactions – especially grateful they gave me some recommendations as locals from Vietnam on where to visit specifically in my future itinerary. 🙂
I genuinely wouldn’t change anything about the food I’ve eaten from this establishment – it is satisfying, filling, warms my soul, and makes my taste buds sing and dance. All I hope is to continue experiencing consistency and that they have lots of sustained success.
I’ll be back in person again and also ordering delivery again. 100/10 recommend ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Drinks were also great and matched perfectly with the food.
One of the chicken dishes had a bit of blood near the bone, but it was fully cooked — just slightly red inside.
Honestly, it didn’t bother me at all because everything tasted amazing! ✨
If you’re looking for authentic, delicious Vietnamese food that looks as good as it tastes — this place is a must-try!
Broth: Warm and comforting, but on the saltier side. A good pho broth usually balances saltiness with aromatic spices like star anise, cinnamon, and charred onion, so the salt being more prominent throws off that balance a bit.
Beef: The mix of bone-in beef and slices makes it satisfying — both for flavour and presentation. The meat softens nicely in the hot broth, adding body to the soup.
Overall: It hits the spot for warmth and comfort, but the saltiness overshadows some of the subtle spices pho is known for.
Portion & Value
At $35.9, it’s definitely on the premium side for pho. The portion size and stone-bowl gimmick make it feel more like a specialty dish than an everyday pho order. You’re paying for both the drama and the size here, it could easily feed two people.
Egg coffee was a so-so attempt. The strong coffee was the saving grace, but the egg foam was too eggy and too sweet, leaving the whole drink feeling unbalanced. Compared to the authentic versions in Vietnam, this fell flat.
Verdict
A decent, hearty pho experience warm, filling, and impressive to look at. The broth leaned too salty for balance, but the portion makes it feel worth trying at least once. More a “special occasion pho” than your go-to weekly fix.
Egg coffee was a disappointment
