⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Truly Exceptional Dining Experience Perfect for Celebrating Anything Special
I came to The Old Mill Restaurant & Bar in Austin, Minnesota to celebrate my birthday, and it exceeded every single expectation I had. The atmosphere alone is worth the visit warm, beautifully decorated for Christmas, and filled with such inviting energy. It feels historic, cozy, and completely charming the moment you walk in.
The service was outstanding. Every staff member I interacted with was kind, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. You can tell they take real pride in what they do.
And the food… absolutely phenomenal. My steak was one of the juiciest and most perfectly prepared cuts I’ve ever had. The sides, the shrimp, the sauces, the drinks everything was crafted with care and full of flavor. Even the clientele around me added to the experience; it was one of those rare places where the entire room feels happy to be there.
I sat in the bar area, which has such a great vibe with warm lighting, beautiful décor, and an elevated but relaxed atmosphere. I’ve heard they have incredible live outdoor music and a gorgeous outdoor space in the summer, and I’m already planning a trip back to experience it.
This was the perfect birthday celebration, and I’m so grateful I chose The Old Mill. I’ll absolutely be returning, not just next year, but much sooner. Highly, highly recommend.

We had such a wonderful dinner date at the Old Mill, the inside dining area is so beautiful by the dam. They also offer outdoor dining right by the way under the beautiful lit pation, so relaxing! The food and servers were amazing as well.

The Old Mill Restaurant is such a charming and inviting place! My husband and I had a lovely, romantic evening there. We both ordered steak and cocktails, and everything was absolutely perfect. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, and the beautiful view made the experience even more special. We’ll definitely be back the next time we’re in town!

Incredible menu. Awesome favorites like pime rib, and great new flavors like General Tso’s cauliflower and loaded potato skins, trust me, you haven’t had the quite like this before. Wonderful IPA selection too. Great wood structure. I can’t tell you how special this place is.

A riverside outdoor setting with live music on Thursday evening was the best of Minnesota summer. The atmosphere, the food and the live performance are all five stars. We both had Panini sandwiches and drinks which were satisfying. Worth the drive from Owatonna, and probably from beyond. I look forward to checking out the indoor upscale looking restaurant in the ajacent Mill pond building in the winter.

I’m not an Austin native and this was my first time to the Old Mill. Heard it was the place to go for a lovely meal and I was not disappointed!
Service was awesome, I wish I could remember the name of young lady who waited on us. My partner had the ribeye and I had the walleye. Portions are huge, piping hot and delicious.
I was told it was more of a business casual dress code, however I observed it was pretty casual and people were dressed in anything from date attire to jeans and a ball cap. Great place for families too during the main dinner hour. Kids are definitely welcome.
The biggest surprise to me though was the whiskey and bourbon list! Holy cow was it huge! Not only that, but the liquor prices were unbelievably reasonable! We would have spent twice as much back in the cities. Really nice surprise. Will definitely be back!

We were looking for somewhere new to try and decided to head to Austin, Minnesota. The Old Mill was an amazing experience. Great bloody Mary! The food was delicious. We had the Trio and also tried the soup of today which was the Asparagus Bisque –YUM!! We were seated at a table that overlooked the water. We drove from Iowa (not too far) and will be back.
