My first 5 star dining experience of the New Year and I couldn’t be more excited to write this review and tell everyone all about it. I’ve been to 2 different Miss Toyas restaurants (Silver Springs & Baltimore) so when I found this location 20 mins from Maryland Live Casino Resort, I just had to go have lunch here today. This location is also located in a shopping center like the other two visited, so parking wasn’t a problem. Staffing was short today but we still were able to be seated quickly. The restaurant is not really large but very clean. Due to them being short staffed, we were seated and served by their newly appointed GM. I’ll get into his A1 customer service shortly but I’ll start off witg the food. It was 5 of us total, so we ordered a little bit of everything and shared amoungst each other. We had the Chargrilled Oysters, Hot Honey Lemon Pepper Wings, Cajun Wings, Lamb Chops, Mac & Cheese, Sweet Potatoes, Fried Devil Eggs, Steak & Cheese Egg Rolls, Jerk Chicken Eggs Rolls, Gumbo w/ Crab Leg on Top, hot Honey Salmon Bites, Cornbread, Spinach Dip, Banana Pudding, and Bread Pudding. Everything was great. The only thing we weren’t too crazy about was the crab leg on top of the gumbo but everything else was so good. To drink, we all had the hurricanes. They were sooo good but dont get it twisted, they will sneak up on you so dont let the sweetness fool you lol. We also had the blueberry iced tea, which became MY FAVORITE drink. Now onto the service, the GM Shamikh has some of the most amazing customer service I’ve ever received. He was attentive, entertaining, friendly, and extremely accommodating. He made many recommendations and went out of his way to make sure we tried new things we hadn’t tried at the other locations we previously visited. Everything came out in a timely manner. We have been talking about our visit today since we left and cannot wait to go back. We will definately be calling ahead to ensure Shamikh is there before we come because he made our experience everything it was. For anyone hesitent about visiting this place, dont be. Give them a try.

OMG why haven’t we tried this place sooner?! So good!! Be warned, the entrées are huge!! Even the kids meal! We wound up taking about 50% total of all the meal home, which is amazing! The food is so good too. It has plenty of southern soul infused into it. Certain dishes transported me back to NOLA as well, like the Hurricane (cocktail) and chargrilled oysters. The fried chicken was nicely seasoned and perfectly cooked. The white meat was moist throughout, which isn’t always easy to do! Everyone loved it though. The service and atmosphere were both excellent! My only complaints? The temperature was quite warm inside. And our food took a bit of time coming out; plus the adult dishes showed up about 10 minutes before the kids meal. We shared, though, and nobody went hungry! But, those are literally the only constructive criticisms I have. Minor complaints. Good food takes time for sure! We absolutely loved the entire experience and we can’t wait to come back!!

First time visiting this establishment and most likely my last. We went for the bottomless brunch. The atmosphere and service was decent. The bathroom was a disaster. The food was waaaaayyyy too salty! The best tasting item I had was the French toast other than that, I’m honestly disappointed.

The food was good. Chicken and catfish were fried a little too hard for my taste. The macaroni and cheese was not cooked to my liking, was expecting to see different cheeses. The corn bread and greens were fine, just not cooked to my taste. The yams/sweet potatoes, flavored tea, and flavored lemonade were excellent. Would recommend that you try them out. I would go back again to try other dishes. Excellent atmosphere and good service.

The food and the service at this location was terrible. Tried to have my birthday here and completely just over it. The location did not start their ayce brunch here that was suppose to start October 25ish and if we reserved a party for that, then the host should’ve stated that when called about a party for that. Quick to take a $200 deposit down for a big group.

We all got seated and didn’t receive any service for 20 mins while the manager and 2 staff members were catering to a blogger. Our waiter and the manager seen laughing while they’re talking and everyone at our table didn’t receive water. The blogger clearly had food that wasn’t on the menu. Everything she had looked exactly like the food from the brunch menu we looked into. The manager really didn’t help with any other costumers in the restaurant.

We only ordered appetizers and they weren’t good. The rolls were doughy, the spinach dip someone got wasn’t good, a platter that came out was cold, and the stuffed shrimp was a bit salty. The best thing we had were the chicken, oysters, and drinks.

Just safe to say go for the drinks and the bar if you do go. My family was looking forward to this restaurant and completely was disappointed. We all agreed that we would not be back.

We visited Miss Toya’s in Gambrills on Saturday, October 25, 2025 to celebrate my mom’s birthday with a 2:30 PM reservation for brunch. Unfortunately, what was supposed to be a fun and relaxing celebration started off with a frustrating delay. Upon arrival, there was a line of people without a standing host to greet the incoming patrons or to inform everyone about the wait. Once to the front of the line, the manager told us to give about 10 minutes so they could close out another table that we would be seated at. That “10 minutes” turned into over 30, and we weren’t seated until around 3:05 PM.

Once seated, our waitress, Janice, kindly greeted us and mentioned she’d be right with us. It then took another 20 minutes just to receive water, by 3:25 PM. At that point, we were informed that brunch service had ended at 3:00 PM. Given that the delay was entirely on the restaurant’s end, I asked if they could make an exception and still accommodate brunch items. Unfortunately, they said no.

If I hadn’t had a party of ten for a special occasion, I likely would have left. It was disappointing to have planned for brunch only to be told we couldn’t order it after waiting over half an hour past our reservation time. It seemed like a reasonable request, and the lack of flexibility really took away from the experience.

I ended up ordering from the dinner menu, opting for a few sides and appetizers: grits, mac n cheese, and the appetizer sampler (Deep Fried Deviled Eggs, Mambo Wings, and Jerk Chicken Rolls). To their credit, the food was very good, especially the mac n cheese, which was easily the best I’ve ever had at a restaurant. The Deep Fried Deviled Eggs had an unconventional spin by being deep fried, which is the reason why I was tempted to order them, but overall didn’t add to the flavor pallet of the eggs.

Though service started off slow, Janice was incredibly sweet, patient, and polite throughout. She did her best to make our experience enjoyable once she was able to get to us.

Overall, the food was great, but the service and management coordination fell short. If the hospitality and timeliness matched the quality of the food, this could have been a 5-star experience. I would consider visiting Miss Toya’s again, but perhaps not this location.

The flavor of each dish and service was amazing. The atmosphere is really calm and relaxing. My server Togodo was wonderful and very attentive. The only reason for my missing star is that we thought this location had the seafood brunch buffet like the Laurel location but our server said it was in the works but not here yet! My shrimp and grits dish was delicious. My sister had the salmon sandwich and cousin had the oxtail and grits. Everyone loved their dishes!

The food was FABULOUS! I had the gumbo—flavorful and great portion for the price. The seafood egg rolls, wings, and deviled eggs were shared and everyone got a taste! The bread pudding was so moist and delicious. Finally, I have to say, the service was above and beyond excellent!! Haven was our server and we had a five-star experience!

My family took me to celebrate my birthday. I had been a few times previously, but during lunch and HH only. I had the oxtails, crab mac and greens. The food and drinks are always absolutely delicious. I also had the oysters (10/10) and deviled eggs to start. The servers were all relatively young, and I think they did the best they knew how. However, I rated the service so low, because the food came out sporadically. My crab mac and cheese came out 10 minutes after the rest of my food. One of my guests received his plate after most of us were almost finished eating, and after they mistakenly gave him another one of my guests food. There are inconsistencies in prepping of the food. For instance, 3 of my guests ordered a chicken dish that comes with some type of gravy. Two guests received so much gravy that you could barely see the chicken. The other guests, they put his gravy on the side. One of my guests had the dish twice before, and they automatically put her gravy on the side so she didn’t think she needed to ask for it on the side this time around. I love a good flight, and the lemon drop flights here are delicious. However, the menu should be more clear with lemon drop flights vs margarita flights. They are listed together on the menu. However, the lemon drop flight comes with 3 and the margarita flights comes with 4 automatically.
Lastly, I made an online reservation a few days ahead of time and specified on the reservation (twice) it was for my birthday. I also told the GM the night before when I called to correct the number of party guests. It went from 9 to 10 guests. The 10th guest’s was a 4 year old. I greatly appreciate her for making the accommodation to not make the birthday lady (me) pay the deposit. As we were leaving, one of my guests asked if they celebrate birthday guests there. Our waitress, I believe her name was Marie, (I liked her, she was good by the way) said she didn’t realize we were celebrating a birthday and she would’ve had them sing to me. I didn’t think I needed to remind them myself that it was my birthday. Usually they ask if you are celebrating a special occassion when you arrive or whatever you indicate in the online reservation is made known to the waistress. Regardless, our waitress apologized and made up for it by sending me home with two desserts. The peach cobbler was yummy, but the banana pudding was mostly pudding. I want to continue to support this black owned business and see Miss Toya’s thrive, but I’m afraid they will loose more customers with some of these practices and slow service. I will return and support them, but not with a large party and not on a Saturday night. I saw a few patrons (couples) that appeared to be frustrated with the slow service as well. So I don’t think my large party had anything to do with the slowness. Again, I will still continue to support them.

Miss Toya’s in Gambrills did not disappoint! The atmosphere, ambience, and attentiveness of the staff made me glad that we chose this restaurant. It’s clean and nicely decorated with minimalist touches. The menu was plentiful, yet pleasing. We chose the red snapper with collard greens and sweet potatoes. We also had a platter of appetizers, which includes 3. Kudos to the chef! Portions were plentiful and the presentations were great for pictures! Ask for E! He was a great server. We will be back.
