Social Profile:

MERIDIAN occupies a prominent site on the great American street for which it is named. A two story log structure was erected in the 1880s at this prime location between Meridian Street and the Indiana Central Canal. Some of those original logs remain as a reminiscence of the history of this unique property that has served food and drink to Hoosiers and travelers alike for nearly a century. After extensive rebuilding, MERIDIAN opens a new chapter in fine dining and gracious service at this address. With views of the historic homes along Meridian Street and of the peaceful green space of Alice Carter Park, MERIDIAN is unparalleled in its combination of wonderful food and comfortable surroundings.

Me and my Fiancé went there for our Valentines dinner yesterday; it was our first time there.
We enjoyed our food. My fiancé was pleasantly surprised at the amount of food they gave him and said it tasted heavenly!
Our waiter was attentive and the water pitcher person didn’t let your water run out.
When we first got there, we were a bit early so employees were still getting there. We got there the same time as a guy who helps with parking. He jumped out of his car and helped me park to where the line was. Very nice guy and helpful!

My attorney brought me here to close out a business deal, and from the moment we sat down it was clear this was the right setting for serious conversations and great food.

The atmosphere strikes that rare balance: refined, calm, and professional without feeling stiff. It’s the kind of place where decisions get made.

The food was phenomenal. The fried oysters were perfectly crisp, rich, and balanced, easily some of the best I’ve had anywhere. And the Maple Leaf duck was incredible. Cooked to absolute perfection, deeply flavorful, and honestly the best duck in town. This is the dish people should be talking about.

What truly elevated the experience was the service. Attentive without hovering, knowledgeable without being performative, and genuinely invested in making the evening seamless. Everything flowed effortlessly.

I’ll be bringing business colleagues here moving forward because this place understands excellence, on the plate and in the room.

If you’re looking to impress, close a deal, or simply enjoy outstanding food in a setting that feels important, this is it.

Meridian has been on my list of places to try for a while, and I am not sure I’ll go back.

We made a reservation at 5 pm, which was admittedly early, but we had plans for afterwards. The hostess told us at 4:56 that she had to seat us closer to 5, which was fine, but there seemed to only be one other party currently in the restaurant so it seemed odd.

All of this would be fine if the food was good. It was just decent, and at these prices ($34 for a burger and fries, for example) it really needs to be fantastic.

We had two soups, a bisque and a smoked corn puree. The bisque was just mildly salty with a hint of seafood flavor, and the corn puree did not taste like much. These were $15/16 each, for a few ounces.

We had two cocktails, which were admittedly much better and far more reasonably priced, including a the Perfect Lux Manhattan.

Our entrees were not bad, including chicken katsu and pastitsio, but not incredibly flavorful. At nearly $40 a plate you can get better, more flavorful versions of these at a Japanese or Greek restaurant for half the price with leftovers. The options were interesting, at least.

I really wanted to love this place, but I just expected far more. On the plus side, our server was really good.

I’d rate the food and cocktails all together around 2.5/5, but I rounded down due to the cost and the fact that nothing tasted particularly special.

We enjoyed every bite! I’m not typically a fan of aioli, as it can be overbearing and overpower food flavors. But this was honestly the best, balanced, and tasty aioli I’ve had. We had a seafood dish which was overflowing with fresh seafood, a smash burger that had the perfect caramelized crisp to the edges while being extremely juicy, and the portobello mushroom dish which was my favorite! You cannot go wrong here! My teen has a beautiful mocktail sangria and I had the pineapple infused margarita. Both were bursting with bright flavors!
The waitress we had was attentive and knowledgeable, and she was funny and friendly. She had us in stitches.
The manager came by and chatted with us, sharing about the opening and the flavor profile they planned.
The blackberry crumble was last, but not least! It was fresh, just sweet enough, and just warm enough to melt the vanilla without creating “crumble mush”.
The restaurant has a great back room for parties.
I highly recommend it! We will be back!

Julian was a great waiter he did a good job with our 20 people party. This was our first time there. The salmon was exceptional. The pasta was a little under cooked for me, could have used about 4 more minutes. The fried oysters were fried soft, I enjoyed the sweetness in the green sauce, the tang with the red sauce and the yellow sauce was creamy, nice appetizer to share. The bavette was flavorful along with the tender asparagus. The mashed potatoes were nice and fluffy and large enough to share with two. The dinner rolls were soft, didn’t have room for dessert.

What an excellent experience at The Meridian Restaurant! The staff were simply outstanding—extremely friendly, kind, courteous, and helpful. Paired with a warm, comforting ambiance, it was the perfect place to unwind. The food was absolutely delicious, from the corn purée starter to the salmon, boar Bolognese, and final donuts. The Meridian provides overall great satisfaction—great location, atmosphere, people, and food.

My husband and I had reservations for New Year’s Eve.Had never been there. Really looking forward to it. 4 hrs before our reservations, I received a voicemail advising me that they are having a set, four course menu, at &125.00 per person. Offering for us to cancel our reservation, if we wished. I called back several times to get some details about the menu. No one ever picked up. I looked on line to see if the New Years Eve menu was posted. It’s not. We were not willing to take the risk, not having any idea what food was being served. Thank you for ruining our New Years plans! We will not be giving you a second try!

The Valentine’s Day dinner was phenomenal. Every course was delicious, especially the Filet (both of us think it may be the best steak we’ve ever had)!

Also, they do half-priced Wine Wednesdays, which they kept even though it was Valentine’s Day, so that was a nice surprise to get a 1/2 off bottle.

Atmosphere was cozy and nice, but not too fancy. We would 100% recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a nice dinner in Indianapolis.

First of all the service was great Madeline or waitress was phenomenal, The charcuterie board was elegant and picture worthy but as far as taste goes nothing specia $25 …… l, they do have great bread rolls with butter. I got the steak for dinner. And the only option was a New Yourk strip.. which is just a sirloin steak with a fancy name… for $50…. Unseasoned and was served with a bread salad I forget the actual name.. but the pieces of bread were to hard to put a fork through and so dense the didn’t break up and had a horrible aftertaste… Just unbelievable for the price they didn’t have a a fillet, ribeye or porterhouse as one of the options just a sirloin with a fancy name. My wife got the Boar Bolognese $28 she said it was pretty good. We also ordered the Mac and cheese… HUGE PORTION.. But it had no flavor very bland dish and was an extra $15 we also had some corn soup that was petty good from what my friend said… My bill after all said and done was over $180 before tip . So my recommendation is pick somewhere else. Good atmosphere, but very overpriced for the quality of food that you receive. The looks are there but the taste is not
