First time trying and got takeout. I ordered online and I was able to find a coupon there for $12 off $40 order. Only the brown gravy and the shrimp fried rice has some flavor and salt. Everything was so bland! We were so disappointed. They gave very nice hearty portions but the flavor was nonexistent and everything was extremely greasy. The sweet and sour chicken was so dried out and the almond chicken so greasy. The eggrolls had no flavor and were just filled with sprouts and noodles and NO FLAVOR. We will be going back to Kams in Berkeley. This is not where it’s at sadly.

Not sure why some people on this review complain about food being “greasy” unless they ordered a deep fried items like chicken wing dings! Shocker that they may be greasy. Perhaps they should try something not deep fried!!. I get the chicken curry and their hot and sour soup . The best I have had.

We chose this restaurant on Christmas Day hoping for something simple and nostalgic, just my daughter and I after a movie. This is a place I remember going to years ago as a child with my grandparents, so I expected a familiar and comforting experience. Unfortunately, it was very disappointing, very.

The atmosphere felt cold and impersonal. The table setup was extremely basic and had more of a cafeteria feel, with just a single hand sanitizer bottle (ugh) sitting on the table rather than a welcoming restaurant environment and table setup.

We ordered hot tea for me, a soda for my daughter, and started with appetizers; potstickers and fried shrimp. From the beginning, the server seemed rushed and irritated, pushing us to order more even after we said we wanted to start with appetizers. Even my 7 year old daughter said how rude he was and she loves everybody.

We then ordered orange chicken for my daughter. The dish was about $25 with tax and came with a very small bowl of rice. After only three bites, every piece of chicken we tried contained cartilage and bones. I took photos and politely asked to send it back. There was no apology or concern, just an abrupt response asking what else we wanted to order.

Shortly after that, and I mean maybe 2 minutes, the check was dropped rudely on the table while we were still eating the appetizers. When I mentioned we weren’t finished, the server was rude and impatient – he clearly wasn’t checked in.

What concerned me most was when we asked for a pen and paper to play tic-tac-toe, were handed a piece of scratch paper (I’m sure they recycle order papers) containing another customer’s full name, address, and phone number. That is a serious privacy issue, and I took photos of that as well because I’m just wow’d by it all.

The service was less than poor, the food was unacceptable, and the overall experience was disappointing, especially considering the positive memories I had of this restaurant from years ago – it was about 30-40 years ago, but still. I did tell the man, who appeared to be the owner while paying at the front, and he said “oh, it’s just an off night”.

I don’t usually write reviews, but this experience was far enough off that I felt it was necessary. I would not return even if they offered free food for life. So bad and absolute crushing childhood memories from ordering poopoo platters as a little Ventura local.

Amazing Chinese food! The fried rice actually has that wok flavor from the fire. it’s perfectly cooked, and you hardly even need soy sauce. The portions are great for the price, too. I’m pretty sure the egg rolls are also homemade. I got chicken chop suey, and the chicken was perfect, and all the veggies were still crispy and had a bite. I’m definitely coming back to try egg fu yung and ABC!

This was my first and last time I will ever eat from this restaurant. I didn’t even really get to eat because I found a one-inch x 1/4 greasy steel rod from their equipment in my udon noodles. Disgusting.

The food tastes like it was cooked in old oil. The sweet and sour sauce didn’t have any pineapple or green peppers in it. Not good.

When I first tried this restaurant a couple of months ago, it was really good at first. However, unfortunately the quality has been going down hill since then. There were a couple of times where the chicken wasn’t consistent, and then I ended up getting shrimp that was not clean properly and still had poop on it. Today they forgot the sauce to one of my meals and then the other one had sauce all over the bottom of the bag because they use to also wrap the boxes in plastic to prevent spills but I guess they stopped doing that.

also I have noticed that the rice does have a weird/taste sometimes like other have mentioned.

Finally found a good Chinese place in the Southfield/Oak Park area. I’ve been looking for one ever since Wing Hong on Southfield had a fire and never reopened. Most of the ones in this area are mediocre at best.
Great chicken fried rice! You don’t even need the soy sauce it is so flavorful! Yummy sesame chicken and the egg rolls and spring rolls don’t taste like chemicals! Pepper steak was good. My husband likes the egg foo young. I don’t eat that, but he said it was good too. This is our 3rd time visiting and they have been consistently good and the prices are very affordable in comparison to other places.
Thank you, Peking!

On 7/28/2025 I placed an order through doordash despite the negative reviews. The food was really good, hot, and fresh. I ordered the Family Pack A with an additional egg foo young patty. I will definitely be ordering from Peking again.
