Best BBQ East of the Mississippi (Support This Gem!) and the owner Chris and his partner Jon are the best of people. Kind and generous and started this business with the purest hearts. My husband and I are huge barbecue lovers, he’s from the South, and we’ve spent a lot of time in Austin eating at the best smokehouses in the country. I can say without hesitation that Lily’s BBQ is the best barbecue east of the Mississippi. The level of skill, tenderness, smoke, and flavor here rivals the top spots in Texas.
Their burnt ends are absolutely insane.. tender, decadent, perfectly caramelized little bites of heaven. I served them at my baby shower, and people are still talking about them. Everyone was blown away.
The brisket has that elusive, buttery “flop” that only true masters can achieve. The sides are just as impressive.. even something as simple as their mac and cheese is flawless. Creamy, balanced, not overly heavy, just… perfect. Their sauces are incredibly well-crafted too, including an Alabama white sauce that’s shockingly authentic for New England.
What I love most is how innovative and thoughtful their food is. They take classic barbecue and elevate it with technique, creativity, and a real love of the craft. You can taste that care in every single bite.
The restaurant itself is beautiful, warm, inviting, and designed with a fresh, modern vibe.
I was so sad to hear they’re pausing business right now because their sister restaurant had to close. Places like Lily’s are unbelievably rare. We need to support them however we can when they reopen, because barbecue this exceptional simply doesn’t exist anywhere else on the East Coast.
Lily’s deserves to be a South Shore icon. The moment they’re back open, run! don’t walk. This place is extraordinary.

Great first trip to Lily’s. It was a quiet Sunday afternoon, but the food was delicious! Fave item was the brisket, hands down. It has the most delicious crust on it. I also really enjoyed the collards which were savory and tangy. Overall note was the food could have been universally warmer, but it was all so good it didn’t matter. The chef even brought out some pork belly burnt ends to try, and they were phenomenal! Our waitress was also a lot of fun and very helpful. Would highly recommend and go back.

I had eaten at Lilly’s before and the food has always been amazing. So I decided to use their catering for my son’s birthday. They didn’t disappoint. Everyone enjoyed the food. The brisket was smoked and cooked perfectly. Pulled pork was delicious. I had ordered a good amount of food and everyone was very happy that I did so that they could take home leftovers. This is by far the best barbecue I’ve had in New England, goes toe to toe with the best I’ve had in Texas and NC too. It’s got a great restaurant vibe, water view, and staff as well.
The brisket was mouth watering, give it a little dab of his Big Bob’s horseradish sauce and you’ll be in heaven. We also got the Cowboy Beans, Mac & Cheese, and Pulled Pork sandwich – they were all amazing.
My wife doesn’t usually eat barbecue but she mopped up her plate like a pro here. Can’t wait to get back and eat my way through the rest of the menu

This is the second time we’ve had take out from this restaurant-it’s been fabulous both times! Burnt ends are a favorite and ribs are excellent. Tried the brisket sandwich and street corn this time and would highly recommend both. Kids loved the cornbread, turkey and sausage. Was too full for dessert, but look forward to trying the blueberry cobbler and sitting on the patio next time-has a great view and easy parking!

Best pulled pork sandwich I’ve ever had. Every bite had the perfect roll, meat, mustard, slaw, pickle ratio. Don’t sleep on the homemade tortilla chips, I highly recommend ordering the baked beans to dip them in. We also got the Mac and cheese and brisket – amazing. The Chef even came out to walk us through the sauces, which were all unreal. Can’t wait to go back to try more of the menu.

Lily’s is awesome!! Got to try their pulled pork and burnt ends plate with coleslaw and esquites and it was to die for!! Definitely don’t miss out on the cornbread and honey butter. 10/10 will order takeout again!!

This is great barbecue! We loved this place. Succulent, falling-apart tender ribs and brisket, rich, creamy mac and cheese, delicious corn bread with honey butter. So good. My husband also had the corn dog-style sausage on a stick, and liked it so much he ordered a second one. An excellent banana pudding topped it off. I have to mention the sauces,too- the meal is accompanied by five different bottles of sauces, all different and delectable in their own way. Definitely going back!

I have had the pleasure of eating here a few times, and I would recommend EVERYTHING on Lilly’s Menu.
I’ve have to recommend my personal “go-to” the 3 meat tray with Burnt Ends, Ribs and Pulled Pork, but save room for the Mac & Cheese, you’ll be glad you did!
Sandwiches are top tier as well, ive had the Pulled pork sandwich twice now, and the chopped brisket sandwich even more.
You can also choose from the signature sauces (they give you a carrier for all your options when you order) I go for the “all my ex’s” Texas sauce, or the KC Sunshine, but there is a new ghost pepper sauce that will knock your boots off (if you’re into that!)
100% will be back many more times, and would recommend to everyone!!
