From the moment we drove up, I could tell that this place was going to make me feel right at home. The atmosphere and decor was just enough to set the mood without being over the top. The martini the server recommended was so good. The menu offered just the right amount of options with plenty to choose from without being overwhelming. The food was delicious and plentiful, so much so that passed on the birthday desert! We will definitely be back.

Everything I tasted was to die for. Tried food all over America this year and this was my favorite restaurant. Ordered the flounder etienne, seafood gumbo, and seafood au gratin. Every single bite was delicious. Our server was the kindest imaginable and so attentive. Will be going out of my way to stop here again if I’m passing anywhere in Louisiana.

WOW! What else can I say? 4 adults and a baby. We all ordered something different and we all tasted of each dish. A taste explosion! Avoided the long wait by going early. Atmosphere fabulous. Only 4 star issue was running out of drink refills. Otherwise server was pleasant. Pricey and small portions … particularly on the appetizers. But entres left us pleasantly full. Quaint patio and pier out back over the bayou with wrought iron seating good for cocktails.

Wow, one of the best meals I’ve enjoyed! We tried the crab and crawfish cakes which were freshly fried, meaty, delicious. I ordered the special: 6oz of the tenderest filet topped with blue point crab and gulf shrimp stuffing, with a divine cream sauce smothering…. O.M.G. I would eat a shoe if it had that cream sauce on it. My companion had the eggplant Napoleon covered with etouffee which was another winner; expertly handled eggplant and rich flavors. Finally, bread pudding for dessert. We wrapped with a stroll over the bayou under twinkle lights.

While the meal itself was worth returning for, hands down, the service was impeccable. Our server was highly accommodating to the young child we were dining with and overall a sweetheart who took her time to chat with us about the town and our amazing hotel.

This place is definitely worth all the hype. If you need to travel to experience it, do it! Worth the effort for this gem. Just a place that you leave feeling happy!

We celebrated my dad’s 72nd birthday here, and I’ve been a regular at The Steamboat for years. It’s been a while since I’ve been back, as we’re now in Houston, but my parents are still nearby. The food quality has unfortunately declined. My 12oz ribeye felt like a budget-friendly Walmart steak. I would have happily paid more for a high-quality USDA Prime dry-aged steak, perhaps with some bone-marrow butter.

The drinks were okay for a dive bar, but they could use some improvement. They’re not James Beard award winners or Michelin-starred, which is more to our taste. A mixologist should be behind the bar, not just a bartender.

As the only “fine dining” restaurant in the area, this place could definitely do better. It’s fallen a bit short. Maybe they could try to emulate the quality of Vestal in Lafayette.

The restaurant was recommended by the visitors center as the best. The website stated there was a patio overlooking the bayou and a nice spot to have a cocktail. The patio has 2 dirty tables and the deck over the water is blocked off and clearly needs repair.

We ordered the seafood platter and the seafood augratin, both were good. They each came with only one side, no salad or bread/rolls. We thought the dishes were pricy for what we got.

Our server seemed very rushed; came by to see if everything was okay and didn’t wait for an answer.

The building, however, is awesome.

Nice venue and atmosphere. Waitress was attentive. I had the catfish diane, it was good but I expected more of it. The flavors kind of ran together and nothing really stood out as the star of the entree. Smothered potato side dish was pretty good. Be prepared for very expensive prices though.

The best restaurant in Acadiana. Meals are always perfect everytime we go. Drinks are cold and the waitstaff are always professional and polite. And where else can you sit in and enjoy a meal in a piece US history.
