What a hidden gem! Swede Hollow Cafe is the perfect spot if you’re looking for a cozy atmosphere, delicious food, and a touch of nature right in the city. The breakfast sandwiches were absolutely amazing — fresh, flavorful, and perfectly grilled. The coffee was rich and smooth, just the right way to start the morning.
I especially loved the outdoor seating area surrounded by greenery — it feels so peaceful, almost like a secret garden. The staff is friendly and welcoming, which makes the whole experience even better.
This place has such a unique charm, and I’ll definitely be coming back again and again. Highly recommend it to anyone who loves good food, great coffee, and a warm, inviting atmosphere! ☕

4.5 stars feels about right. You order at the counter. A respectable amount of options for breakfast and lunch. The space is quite cool, multiple levels of seating. A nice outdoor space with an adjacent garden. It had just been lightning raining so I didn’t eat outside, but will go back on a nicer day to try another menu item. I had the backed hashbrow platter. It was tasty.

We found this place on a search for a nearby breakfast restaurant. It was with walking distance from our airbnb. The place is an old reused house and is very neat to either eat upstairs or out on the patio. We chose the patio and it was very pleasant.
We order the hashbrown platter, the French toast, we had a coffee and a chai tea. All were excellent choices especially for sharing as we got to try both options and the portions were sufficient for doing so. I will say the french toast was very sweet. It was like having dessert for breakfast. 🙂 If we lived in the area, we’d probably frequent this restaurant.
The staff even bring your food to your table so you don’t have to wait before sitting down after ordering at the counter.

This is an AMAZING cafe!!! Right away we were greeted with a warm welcome. The service was phenomenal, and the food was even better. A little pricey, but TOTALLY worth it. The cinnamon roll was absolutely to die for. I would recommend this cafe a thousand times to everyone. Definitely a great hidden spot in St. Paul!!

Other than the miscommunication – Their cinnamon rolls and French toast are a must-try! It was my first time @ Swede Hollow Cafe and I would definitely recommend. The park is right around the corner of the cafe – so I definitely went for a stroll afterwards.
The sweet girl who took my order was recently hired. She informed me that after ordering my drink, I’d have to pick it up at the end of the bar. Since I ordered food, I received a number tag. I went upstairs to place my tag on a table, walked by downstairs to wait for my drink. 20 minutes later, I check in with the baristas and they said my drink and food had already been delivered to my table. Although I didn’t mind warm French toast and a room temperature lavender latte, I would have appreciated if they offered to remake the drink (since it had been sitting out for a bit) or apologize for not communicating. The baristas did inform me though that they only brought the drink out because I had ordered food, too.

Wonderful spot close to Mississippi Market in St. Paul. There is a beautiful small park (when weather permits) to sit and reflect outside. The building itself seems old and very Swedish even though the history of Swede Hollow is long-past, lots of “hygge” inside (yes I know it’s Danish but they did own the country, kinda). A few tables downstairs, one cozy one on the mezzanine, 6-7 upstairs and a neat “conference room” with a very comfy reading armchair. Coffee really good (Americano, Cubano), great selection, had a studenty-feel, but we are close to MSU. The food looked great. Definitely one for my after shopping, a gem of a “Third Place”.

I found this place through a Google search and it’s turned out to be some of the best breakfast food and coffee I’ve had in the area! I came in after a run and everyone was extremely welcoming and patient while I looked through the menu. I ordered a Banana Nut Mocha (minus the chocolate because I’m not a fan) and it was AMAZING! The espresso was of superb quality and the syrup did not overwhelm the overall flavor. I also ordered a ham and veggie quiche and it was so fluffy and perfectly cooked. It had just the right amount of ingredients. Not overfilled so everything was falling apart but enough so that the combination of toppings still make a huge impact. The cinnamon roll was delicious! I had them warm it up so that the frosting would soak into the roll a little bit. My boyfriend got a dark roast and sausage quesadilla. He enjoyed it all, but I’ll let him write his own review. The two of us and my dog sat outside and they brought all the food out to us. I love that the silverware is located outside on the porch for easy access. Will definitely be back!!!

Nice chill little spot to check out if your in the east side of the Saint Paul area…has a nice out door patio and garden…the vibes are legit. Everything tasted fresh and was made to order with the quickness, didn’t wait long at all.
However, I feel like my breakfast sandwich was a little pricey for what it was…BUT, it still tasted great!
Lemonade was very good as well but on the sweet side for me personally and the cinnamon roll gets an (A) can’t wait to try the caramel roll next time around!
I’ll def be going back!

I tired this place for the first time and definitely won’t be the last one.. I had the best cafe late since I arrived to Minnesota, the cookie was soft and full of flavor. There are options to enjoy your coffee either outside or upstairs.. will definitely try their breakfast

My spinach and artichoke panini was perfect. The bread was delicious. I got a salted caramel latte that wasn’t overly sweet. My wife had the Cuban latte with Oat milk and that was outstanding! recommend. Sitting in the beautiful garden was a bonus.
