Another first time visit to a restaurant in our area, this time at Don Julio’s in New Tampa. This restaurant is a pretty good size and it nicely decorated with a Mexican theme. It was pretty spacious and clean. The staff was very friendly and professional. The menu was extensive with both authentic and American style Mexican dishes. We had a cheese dip with chips and it was good. For lunch, my wife had a taco salad with steak and I had an enchiladas carne. Every thing was great except the steak was a little chewy in the taco salad. Living in both New Mexico and Texas we know all about Mexican food and different styles, if you’re looking for some good Mexican food we’d recommend Don Julio’s.

We tried several dishes; the fajitas were the best. The chicken bowl was bland and mostly rice and beans. I felt it was a bit pricey for the quality of the food. The atmosphere was pleasant, though. Honestly, I’m not sure if I’ll go back.

I’m from CT and I was looking for a good Hispanic food restaurant. This place is top tier wow. I got the empanadas and chicken enchiladas verde. Out of this world. Nothing is out of a can everything is homemade in house. This place is out of this world I just wish I took a picture before I started eating but I couldn’t wait it was so good. And if Angie is taking care of you you’ll have a great night and amazing service. Wow if I could give you 10 stars I would

Atmosphere is beautiful and drinks were delicious. Service was good but the food was definitely not what I expected. You guys should not say authentic Mexican because it’s not authentic at all. You guys need to learn how to season and put some love this some chipotle, shit but I understand it’s the college area, but I will not be returning back. !

Stopped in at Don Julio’s and was pleasantly surprised by how fresh everything tasted. The tortillas felt like they were just made. The tacos were excellent, especially the Al pastor which had a generous amount of meat.
They’ve got a decent tequila wall. I personally wish they had more additive-free options, but that’s just my preference. The pours were generous, and overall, we had a great time. Definitely worth a visit if you’re craving solid Mexican food.
I don’t know if it’s a guy thing lol but I dove in and took pictures after I already started eating. Got to that point that I knew I had to leave a review

The place is really cute. Loved the Frida Kahlo painting. The colors are very vibrant and beautiful. The service was amazing! Very attentive. The margaritas were delicious and strong! Perfect combination! Especially the passion fruit margarita! The Queso Blanco with chorizo definitely surprised us because it’s not the melted dipping cheese that most people are used to. This is more of a fried cheese with chorizo. It was still good but you definitely need silverware to eat it. The tortillas were hard when they were supposed to be soft so that was sad. But I bet if they were fresh it would have been awesome. We had Don Julio’s burrito which was a delicious combination especially with the yellow melted cheese on top. The vegetables were very fresh. Also at our table we had the shrimp dish which is called the camarones enchilados, amazing flavor! The tamal was perfect! The end of the night with some churros and the dipping sauce was a great addition to it. Overall four stars and definitely will visit again when I’m in the area.

So much variety at a great price!
With options for everyone, including vegetarian dishes, plus fish, shrimp, pork, and beef. I loved being able to mix and match — like having a tamale with a carnitas taco and what seem to be handmade soft corn tortillas, without needing a full plate of rice and beans.Specialty dishes like birria and tamales.
Fast and efficient service for us!
The ambience is perfect for catching up with friends. With booths, bar seating, and tables, it’s a relaxed space where you can actually enjoy conversation.

We ate here for the first time with some friends . Food and presentation were good, food was flavorful, and they had a live guitar player & singer for authentic Mexican music. Service was fast, and our server was very attentive. Overall, I gave a 5 star. I’m my opinion, very good, flavorful & an overall great night. I WOULD recommend Don Julio’s and we will be returning soon.
