Five-Star Experience at Honroo Sushi AYCE (Diamond Tier – $58.99)

Honroo Sushi absolutely blew us away. The Diamond AYCE option at $58.99 is worth every single penny and then some.

Let’s start with the Wagyu Sandwich — unreal. Rich, buttery, perfectly balanced, and honestly something I’m still thinking about. The Wagyu sushi was melt-in-your-mouth perfection, and the shrimp dumplings were plump, flavorful, and executed beautifully.

The baked cheese lobster was decadent and indulgent in the best way, and the Wagyu served yakishabu style? Tender, savory, and absolutely delicious. Every appetizer we tried was outstanding, and the portion sizes were generous, especially for AYCE — quality and quantity truly delivered.

Bonus points for the $8 lycheetini — refreshing, well-balanced, and dangerously easy to drink

On top of all that, the service was impeccable. Attentive, friendly, and efficient without ever feeling rushed.

If you’re anywhere near West Falls Church, Honroo Sushi is an absolute must-stop. This is AYCE done right — elevated, delicious, and memorable. We’ll definitely be back.

The sushi here is SOOO GOOD!! The quality is fantastic. The rolls are juicy, full, and tasteful. Most specialty rolls have fish inside and out. The presentation makes you feel like you’re on vacation. Drinks were a bit weak, but not that bad.

Food and service were great. Happy hour menu, and the all you can eat are good prices too.

One thing that stood out is this restaurant does not cheap out on the little details. The decorations were beautiful, the rolls were stuffed to the brim, the portions generous. Even their to go bag seems insulated and thick.

Heather was our waitress and she was very sharp, sweet, and professional. Great service.

I’d come back for sure! Thanks for the awesome experience celebrating my friend’s birthday!

Delicious AYCE. Got the Diamond with the tableside-seared Wagyu and Cheese Baker Lobster. Both tasted amazing! The Toro Tuna, as tartar or sushi, is incredibly flavorful. Service is amazing. They surprised my partner with a birthday sign and pie. They’re on top of their game here!

Underwhelmed.

Hanoo has a great atmosphere, and it’s genuinely a good place to dine and chat. The server was polite and attentive.

The food, however, was… not bad, but disappointing.

In part, there were a handful of curious fruit flies keeping us company throughout dinner. The Vegetable Ramen was rather bland—though not so much that I didn’t eat it (courtesy of the flavor tray they provide with dinner). My wife says the yakitori was good, but like the ramen, it lacked any distinctive punch that would set it apart, much less above similar dishes elsewhere. Plus, the chicken was undercooked, which was pretty much the end of the appetite for both of us.
I think the first warning sign should have been the expansiveness of the menu. Nobody is exceptional with that breadth of cuisine. Perhaps we picked some misses. I came for the ramen, though, and while I can’t make a definitive judgment on the restaurant as a whole, I won’t be returning anytime soon for that. I hear the pork buns are good, though.

We traveled from Maryland to visit this location. Honoo must have recently changed their prices even though this is our first time visiting because they used white out on the menu. The sushi presentation was outstanding! I rarely post videos but the show was video worthy. The skewers could have been seared and cook just a little longer. The noodles my wife ate didn’t have that wow factor and the broth was OK at best. The chicken Karaage was outstanding and the pork buns are soft and savory. I would highly recommend this location. They even give out possible gifts for reviews and that is rare.

Wow! I can only echo all the other positive reviews for this place. The food was fresh, flavorful, and nicely plated. We’ve eaten at many excellent restaurants around the world, and Honoo truly impressed us with the quality of their food and service. Some menu items we enjoyed more than others simply due to personal preference, but the AYCE menu offers enough variety that everybody can easily find one (or several) things they like.

Our server, Gina was also great and very friendly, which added to the already positive experience. This restaurant is clearly well managed and we hope that continues well into the future. Highly recommended.

I won a free luxe dinner for 4 at Honoo Ramen & Sushi by tagging 3 friends in their Instagram giveaway! The curated dinner included Wagyu on hot stone, Tantan Abura Soba, Salmon Three Ways, Tonkotsu Tsukemen, and Matcha Mille Cake. The food was delicious… but the “dinner for 4” was really just one portion of each dish—better suited for 2. We ordered extra dishes (Toro Scallion & Wagyu Scallion rolls, Tonkotsu Ramen, and Okonomiyaki—my friend says it’s the best he’s had in the area). Service was friendly and attentive overall, though my friend’s Old Fashioned got sent to him wrong twice before they fixed it.

We got the omakase sushi sashimi, Yakatori platter (skewers) and the signature sake flight. They had great options to try a little bit of everything.

My favorite sake was dassai, it was light and sweet.

The main event was the omakase with the a tiny fog 🙂 My favorite bite of the night was the wagyu sushi.

I’ll definitely come back to try their ramen.

First the good, it’s a nice location that’s easy to drive to and is very nicely designed inside. Service was decent.

Now to the issues here, there are many. First I should have read the reviews beforehand. As I was dining here strictly for the ramen. And it was not good. The broth tasted like straight miso soup. The piece of meat in the bowl was desperately overcooked. It fell apart in a sickly, stringy way. The egg could have been the best part except it was cold in the middle, which is eerily gross. The noodles were also thin and had no taste. Very few other toppings made this ramen one you should think of skipping.

Next, two bowls of ramen on a slow sunday lunchtime took forever to arrive. Not great, especially when there is a chef just standing there, not doing anything, except STARING at you.

Lastly, the parking. It’s a diaster. There is very little free street parking. The garage is $5 for the first hour, up from there. Yes you can supplicant on your knees like chattle for a voucher from the restaurant, it shouldn’t be this way.

Overall 2 stars, inconsistent. Maybe I’ll come back some day to try the sushi.
