Siomay was my target and it is one of the best in los angeles in terms of taste and value. No seats, so good for take outs only.

Shrimp noodle rice rolls were top notch and not bad pricing. Shumai and hacao were ok I have had better and the egg tart is good too. I did see one person handle cooked pork belly with his bare hands so if hygiene is important to you definitely be wary of that.

I had really good food whenever I came and also had come for the roast duck too. Really pricy, if I’m to be honest. I also wish I could make smaller card purchases too, but I’m not too worried on that.

This restaurant was called Yum Cha Cafe, which was a very poor-looking but good taste dim sum restaurant. It looks they just did a little renovation and raised the price. Based on the original price, they raised a LOT.
The food is very good, even better than the most big restaurants, it sells the old fashing Cantonese dim sum.
Nowadays, Dim Sum become three styles. One is Order-to-Make, which is also the best good looking and most expensive one. The second is several aunts push the carts walking inside the restaurant, you can order from them.
The third one is like this restaurant, all the foods are pre-made and kept warming in the steaming pot. Clients buy the food at the counter and bring them to a table to eat. The third one is also the cheapest.
(p.s. all pictures are Yum Cha Cafe)

I relocated from Florida but I’m originally from Hawaii and Jamaica so I love dim sum and Asian food but can’t find much authentic Asian foods/grocery stores in FL. I live across the street from this place; it’s next to GW Grocery (an Asian grocery store with fruit, vegetables and fish selections that remind me of my islands). The day after I flew in, my boyfriend and I ordered a little of everything from here for breakfast. Everything was delicious. I especially missed having rice wrapped in lotus leaves but I definitely like their steam and fried buns. My eyes were bigger than my stomach the first time so I didn’t finish everything in the photo in one sitting. What we didn’t eat that morning kept well and lasted for about a week. I work from home but I often skip lunch so these are great to heat and eat between tasks. We’ve ordered delivery from here as well as gone there in person. I recommend in person ordering if you are a visual person but beware: everything looks great so you’ll end up ordering more than you intended! The staff are patient if you don’t speak their language; you can point without being misunderstood. Although there are small tables and chairs inside, it’s too small a place for staying to eat. I recommend getting what you want to go; it’s packaged “to go” anyway. Anyway, everything is delicious here so I highly recommend this place.

They will intentionally overcharge you! They offer A or B price but charge you the higher price for your items and when called out on it, they ignore you to serve the next customer instead. Go to other dim sum places in Monterey Park/Alhambra instead, where they are more ethical and will charge you their advertised prices for each item.

I came here because I was craving dim sum. And my friend had been wanting to try this place. It was interesting to have the dim sum in a display case where you basically point and order instead of having the carts. The dim sum was alright. I’m not sure I’d come back here to have dim sum. But it was pretty affordable so I’d give it that. Did it satisfy my craving? Almost, almost. Ordered shrimp look fun (rice roll) , shrimp har gau, salty egg yolk bun, pork and shrimp sweet rice sticky dumpling. I didn’t order the chicken feet so I’m not sure how they were. But my friends seemed to enjoy it. Don’t forget the HK milk tea (:

This review doesn’t critique the flavor of the food as it is quite good. The pork-filled pastry was excellent as was the congee.
Unfortunately, though they offer three tables to eat at, this is not a restaurant. It is also a hole-in-the-wall business.
The congee I ordered was not hot and only slightly warm. I was given plastic spoons and a cut-out styrofoam container which served as bowls to pour the congee into. Not even a ladle was offered. They should invest in the proper dishes and utensils for people who choose to eat there.
And when I returned to the counter to order two more items to take home, the employee asked “Do you have cash?” though they accept debit and credit cards.
Again, the food is good but cold and they are not business savvy.
