I didn’t think #FacelessFred made an appearance at dinner. Then I saw his shadow on the door mat.
Thank you to my brother Joe and his wife Anna ‘Nelson’ Kessel for an amazing dinner. I’m so glad I didn’t have to #DineAndDash …

We started with an expresso martini. My brother enjoyed a cold beverage at home, a couple of states away, at the same time. Anna and Joe picked the mussels. Great choice. They were delicious and came with baguette to dip in the sauce. My side salad topped with blue cheese and some Dorothy Lynch hit the spot. Then my awesome server,Rayn, delivered a perfectly cooked, mid-rare, filet mignon with shrimp and bernaise accompanied by a baked potatoe with goat cheese butter.
Thank you to Erica for letting me borrow your readers, the tour of the building, directions to I80 and telling me the legend of Faceless Fred.

Unfortunately I accidently deleted the awesome video I took of my visit. I’ll have to return to make another. I took your advice and didn’t pick up any hitchhikers! Luckily, I didn’t see any either.

Highly recommend The Speakeasy in Holdrege, Nebraska. #youshouldbehere

Was travelling through Nebraska to meet with farmers on a work trip. One farmer mentioned on our route back, we could stop in a rural spot to have the “best steak in Nebraska”.

Its the only steak I’ve had in Nebraska to this date, but I have to believe hes telling the truth because the steak was fantastic and overall experience was very memorable

To top it off, I had accidentally left my favorite hat at the restaraunt. Being 3 hours away when calling to ask if they still had it: the staff exemplified Nebraska Niceness by insisting they’d mail it home to me before I even asked for support. The item just arrived in the mail today and I could not be more grateful to have it back! Thank you so much, Erica!!!!

Can’t wait to stop back here next time I find myself in the state 🙂

This is a gem in the middle of nowhere. The food is incredible, the drinks are reasonably priced, and the service is impeccable. My wife and I have been there twice and it’s been excellent both times.

Speakeasy is the perfect name for this steakhouse! You walk into an old beat up building through an old beat up door then immediately walk through a little bit nicer door and bam, you’re in a fine dining, white linen table cloth restaurant! Taylor was amazing, our bartender made perfect martinis and the food was off the charts! The shrimp cocktail was six of the biggest shrimp ever, the Chicken Dianne was rich and delicious and hubby’s Wagyu Ribeye was spectacular! The show stealer was the pork belly, it was rendered to the perfect melt point with a flavor all it’s own, no sweet sauce, just pork! It’s in the middle of nowhere but oh so worth the trip!

First-time visitor after hearing and reading about this long-time gem tucked between grain bins and fields. The onion ring appetizers with house made ranch dressing are huge and delicious. I could not pass up ordering the 10oz prime rib, which delighted my taste buds, starting with the black pepper coating and defined by the smoked tender meet.

Amazing food and service. Atmosphere is unique and cozy. Some may find the lighting a bit dim inside but I liked it, personally.
