Very disappointed with ASU Tempe.
My freshman student is dealing with broken, dirty dorm laundry machines, a mandatory meal plan with very few options, and extremely poor quality food, often overcooked and inedible. Dining hall employees often sit on their phones instead of paying attention to students or food quality. For the cost parents are paying, this is completely unacceptable. ASU needs to do better.

The experience at Hassayampa Dining Hall is convenient and dependable for everyday campus dining. The space is open and modern, making it easy to find seating whether you’re eating alone or with friends. The food stations offer a decent variety, so you usually have multiple options to choose from, even if you’re eating there often. It can get busy during peak hours, but the layout keeps things moving. Overall, it’s a solid, comfortable place to grab a meal between classes without much stress.

Food pretty good for feeding thousands of kids. But this Wednesday morning I went to get pancakes and eggs and Fujing, I think her name is, was the server. Lu which was cooking food came over to let Fujing know that the pancakes had banana in them. Lu didn’t speak good English, which is why I think Fujing lost her patience. Fujing rudely grunted at Lu and told her “I know” harshly. I told Fujing I am actually allergic to banana pancakes and told Lu thank you for sharing that information. She shouldn’t have been treated that way I feel really bad for Lu. I hope this is addressed because discrimination is not right in a work place.

I really enjoy the dining hall because I am booking, I am eating so much food per day because I am going to get so big and outlift everyone. The hassayampa dining hall is the perfect environment for me, and there is an abundance of food choices that everyone is welcome too. Eric at the smokehouse grill is always so nice, and gives me the best chicken. Thank you Eric.

I was a prep cook for the dining room. They only speak Spanish and do not follow the recipes. Literally all they do is gather all the ingredients in arbitrary proportion, chop them into 1×1 inch pieces, and throw them in a pot or throw them in the oven or the steamer with the sauces in arbitrary amounts. I’m assuming or guessing that they cannot read entirely the English language, like words saute and simmer, because the cooking instructions are basic and yet they do not follow them at all. So indeed the food may be nutrient, because the ingredients are nutrient, but not so tasty because the cooking and preparatory instructions are omitted of the recipe. Specifically they do not follow the portioning and cooking process ever. The worst being Asian cuisine and how to utilize a wok their process always turns out as an Italian pasta salad or some type of goulash. Sorry students stick to hamburgers and hot dogs. Here’s some follow up rhetoric. Is a Chef really a Chef, unless passionate about food, if so, such that in a broad sense, it is widely agreeable to a large audience?

Food is good especially because it’s basically all you can eat. Some of the food that they say is there usually isn’t or rarely is unless you ask. Good place to just chill and eat or just get something quick on your way to class.
