Definitely one of the best Hawaiian-style spots in town. I say Hawaiian-style rather than authentic, since I’m not sure how it compares to traditional Hawaiian food—but regardless, it’s hands-down the best Hawaiian food in Boise!
They could benefit from a more noticeable sign and an updated dining area to better entice dine-in customers. That said, I order pickup about 99% of the time, so it doesn’t really bother me.
I highly recommend giving it a try—at least twice!! Also prices are a bit high but you get what you pay for…

I hate leaving negative reviews, even more so for local restaurants especially at this time. But my experience at CK was so unfortunate…I gotta share. For your sake.

Located in the quiet shops off Entertainment, CK Hawaiian BBQ touts they have the best Hawaiian food in Boise. I think there is potential but they need an entire makeover, from the space to the recipes. For one, the restaurant was not clean. The tables were grimy and the floor was oddly sticky. It felt like the place hadn’t been properly cleaned in a long time.

I ordered the Kalua Park Plate (savory pork with (or without) cabbage) with a side of macaroni and gravy ($8.45 for small), my husband the Chicken Katso also with a side of macaroni and gravy (panko breaded chicken breast, $9.55). We decided to take our food home. The second I opened the boxes, I was unimpressed. I’ll spare you my very descriptive and unappetizing statement (something about the remarkable resemblance to wet cat food), but to be blunt, I was appalled. It was soggy mess of a few pieces of pork with way to much cabbage. I took one small bite and couldn’t stomach anymore. Even my husband exclaimed “what the actual f***.”

The rest of the food wasn’t the worst. The chicken katsu was breaded good but I was like where tf is the katsu sauce?! It wasn’t anything special at all. At least it was edible. The macaroni salad was okay. It didn’t taste very fresh, probably an old batch.

I’m no Hawaiian food expert and based off their menu I got the impression that they’re not aimed at providing traditional Hawaiian fare, but more so “inspired” fare. However, regardless of the origin of the food the fact remained that what I received tonight was terrible. Two stars, because the employees were very nice. And were very accommodating when we changed from dine-in to take-out.

They water their sauces. Terribly blan. Chicken was rubbery.

Teryaki sauce was in a chilli bottle.

God forbid they get off their phones long enuf to see they had customers.

1pm on a Sunday. I was the only customer.

Won’t be back.

So good! Amazing prices! I love the variety of food and its all cooked perfectly. They had all my cravings here. I was very surprised when I saw dimsum and its amazing. I need to get extra mac salad next time. Donuts were light and fluffy too! Thank you! This is honestly the best Hawaiian food from the Nampa to Meridian area

Ordered the Kalua Pork with fried rice. Visually the food was a 1/10. The pork had steamed cabbage mixed with it. 70% cabbage, 30% pork. The fried rice was just white rice with a sparing amount of a fried egg in it. Nothing else. Thankfully the food tasted better than it looked. I put a fair amount of sauces on it to give it some flavor. Taste 5/10. This restaurant is a one-and-done for me.

Ordered for delivery. There’s really not much to say what other not so positive reviews have mentioned. Bland, chewy chicken, unflavored rice. Pork buns were the only decent item we ordered. Go to Kanak Attack if you want decent Hawaiian.

It’s been a little while since I was here last and it’s just not the same. The portion sizes are much smaller and the quality has gone down too. The chicken katsu was very thin and over cooked and the spam in the musubi was not as thick as before. The flavor of the curry was really good just need more of it. Not sure if I’ll be back.

They need a bigger presence, maybe more obvious signage. In a mall. Took a while cooking up our food (they do a bustling takeout business), but what we ordered was pure Hawaii. Best mac salad ever (detected tuna, so this was legit). Awesome shrimp dumplings. I will be back for chicken musubi & fried saimin.

Update: on a return trip…chicken musubi was bland, and warning, no rice w/skimpy garlic shrimp. Not local style.

Good news: The food is good, tuna in mac salad isn’t my preference but it was solid. Katsu was fresh and crisp but a little dry and the rice was rice.

Bad news: The atmosphere is depressing – ordering, waiting and eating is awful. It feels like the entrance to a backrooms liminal space. In all honesty, with what I had – Mo Bettahs takes the cake for taste, price and service.

Brah!! This is the worst hawaiian food I ever had!! Portions are small. Got the kalua plate and it was more cabbage than meat. Kalua looked like it came out of a can. One scoop of rice? Really!! Also got the laulau mix plate with katsu. Only got 4 slices of katsu. Musubi was just rice n spam wrapped. Where’s the furakaki or shoyu? Sorry but this was not good.
