The El Coral Restaurant has a triple functionality as it functions as international cuisine buffet for Premium Level guests, My Barceló members and Barceló Club guests during breakfast and lunch. During dinner, its cuisine is transformed into à la carte restaurant specializing in fish and seafood. A Semi-Formal dress code applies: Formal or bermuda shorts, sleeved shirt and sandals (not rubber material). Beachwear and shoes are not permitted. Prior booking required for dinner. Reservations will be taken according to the table layout and the shifts available. Group reservations for over 12 people are not accepted. Truly a wonderful family experience. We had our own reserved table that the 6 of us could enjoy our meal at set aside from the main restaurant. The menu is not big at all so the options are very limited. I ordered the red snapper whiz was actually very good. Nice flavors and texture. The entire meal was enjoyable. And the staff were very good as well. My wife ordered the beef entre which was also very tasty. This is a restaurant i would go to again.

Our group of 7 made a reservation during the stay and unfortunately it was a huge disappointment. The staff and atmosphere were ok, but the food was the biggest let down. Mozzarella sticks were cold and hard, fries soaked in oil. The garlic mashed potato just tasted of salt, the lobster bisque was cold and unfortunately one of group that ate the lobster and a prawn was very ill that night. It was inedible and we had to leave. I rarely complain about food, and I hope our experience isn’t the usual, but this was sadly one of the worst meals ive ever had.

We ordered the lobster bisque and the ravioli. The lobster bisque was shockingly bad — I’ve genuinely had better from a supermarket carton. It lacked flavor, tasted flat, and certainly didn’t justify being served in a restaurant.

The air conditioning wasn’t working, and the heat inside was unbearable. Sitting through dinner felt more like enduring a sauna than enjoying a meal.

To make matters worse, our main course was brought out while we were still eating our starter. The staff then came to our table five separate times asking if we were finished — while we were clearly still eating. It felt rushed, chaotic, and poorly managed.

If you’re going to open and run a proper restaurant, learn how to manage it. Otherwise, stick to running buffets.

We made a reservation for dinner during our stay. They mixed up the order, the soup was barely warm, and the potatoes were cold.
The overall dinner experience was not great, even the staff seemed stressed, there were no smiles or fun gestures at all.
In the other restaurants in the resort you felt the warmth of the staff when they interacted with you, but not here, we ate our food and left.

Avoid this place at all costs! There are better restaurants at Barcelo. The food was barely edible. The service was OK, but we had to ask for a drink a few times. The atmosphere is rather calm which was appreciated. The food was so bad we had to leave a 1 star review. We made reservations here for dinner. Go to a different restaurant!

Really sad that we had such a horrible experience at this Barcelo restaurant. I can’t say enough good things but everything else at Barcelo Bavaro. Restaurant staff will not open till 15 to 20 minutes after reservation time, beautiful restaurant but poor service and sub par food. Do yourself a favor, take advantage of any of the other restaurants at Barcelo Bavaro and avoid the frustration you will experience at Coral.

Based on the poor reviews we almost didn’t order the lobster, but thankfully we did. It was lovely! We also ordered the shrimp, beef and chillo. All were very good! The staff were all friendly and attentive! Our drinks were all refilled before ever asking and we ended with a very tasty cappuccino.

Grilled shrimp are not really grilled. My son order never cames after reminding our waitress , he ended up eating my black spaghetti . Bad service,eatable food,sorry but it’s the truth!

The cappuccino bisque thing is not edible. They changed it for the chicken soup which after adding a lot of salt tasted ok.

Ordered the shrimp and the fillet

Shrimp was ok the menu says grilled but its just boiled you cant really mess up boiled shrimp unless you keep it in there for ages. Its not fully runber but close to it

Fillet to put it simply ive had better on an airplane. Sadly the best part of the dish is the mash potato.

The waiter kept telling me the lobster was horrible every time i asked about it so i didnt order it. But from what i had highly dont recommend.

Our server Victor made our day. He was highly energetic and upbeat. He was very attentive to our table keeping our glasses full and taking away empty plates. So far this has been the best restaurant experience since we have arrived and it was all thanks to Victor. Hope you see this Victor.
