First time having coney island, love the old school vibe and decor, service was amazing, lovely ladies, we got the specials, 1 or two coney dogs with chips and soda for $7.50 and $10.75. Husband loved it and reminded him of his childhood. We’re glad we stopped in. Thank you so much!

This is a staple of Galesburg and is a historic restaurant. We have to get Coney Dogs every time we are in town. The hot dogs are excellent and the Coney sauce is amazing! The service was friendly and efficient and the collection of antique soda fountain stuff is fun to look through. I was able to get a shirt this time to add to my collection. We will be back the next time were are in town.

Coney Island was opened in 1921 and is Galesburg’s oldest restaurant.

We ordered the Coney Dog, a Kraut Dog and the BLT Dog. The prices sound reasonable, $3.50, but the hotdogs were lackluster. You could honestly find more flavor in a gas station hotdog than here, which was HUGELY disappointing. The hotdogs are extremely similar to a Bar S brand hotdog, which has to be one of the cheapest hotdogs you can buy. You would think that you would want a quality hotdog when that is your theme.

Very disappointed and wouldn’t return.

What brought me here was the recommendation of many people. And it’s historic place to eat. Pleasantly surprised! Wasn’t expecting much cause it’s a hot dog joint and I usually don’t order or go to places that sell such because it’s something I can make at home or if you have a Costco you can get a hotdog and a soda for $1.50. The hotdog’s were really tasty and good. There was no thick casing on them. They were tasty and I ordered two I could almost eat three I don’t do bags of chips or anything on the side just give me my dogs and I did a Powerade drink and it was like 10 bucks and change.

One of the area’s oldest restaurants! Stopped in and tried a combo with two hotdogs – the Chicago and the chili and slaw dog. Both were phenomenal. Large selection of glass bottle pops. The atmosphere is great – lots of vintage memorabilia. Service and prices were good. Can’t wait to visit again!

The prices are amazingly cheap and the food is pretty good although lacking greatly in the flavor department. I got the sauerkraut dog because I like a strong and pungent flavor, and it didn’t really taste strong. I also got the Mac n Cheese and it was 90% Mac, 10% Cheese. The sodas selection however is great and the sitting area is full of vibes, small town restaurant, and nostalgia style. The prices are definitely the best thing about this restaurant. Overall a good experience and I will be returning, but will not be getting the Mac and cheese again.

I actually got the polish sausage and a side of potato salad. The potato salad was good and flavorful and the polish is what it is, it wasn’t bad, I was looking for grilled onions but they don’t sell a Maxwell street polish, so what was I thinking? But the Chicago in me was looking for fries and they don’t make fries here. I thought all greasy spoon type of restaurants served fries. Other than that it was good. I’ve never been to Coney Island and I should’ve expected a different experience than what’s familiar to me.

If I had to be stranded on any island with a dog, it would be a Coney Dog.

Coney dogs are something I discovered my love for since I started traveling in 2012. A nice hot dog in a bun with meat, onions and mustard. Hot dogs are like burgers and pizza. Almost endless customization. Coney Island has a menu to prove it.

I ordered a Jalapeno Cheese and a BBQ dog. $2.50 a piece. Super cheap in my books! The Jalapeno Cheese was super good, but the BBQ dog was amazing! This place gets a 5/5 in my book. Some people may be put off by the…cluttered and dingy inside… but if you can look past that… you will be dreaming of a return trip just like I am.

A nostalgic restaurant that if you’re in the Galesburg area don’t miss it! Everything about the place is nostalgic from the menu prices to the interior decoration!!

Although it’s billed as a “New York hot dog“ place, in my opinion it’s not even close to anything NYC, it’s waaaay more like a Detroit Coney.

The famous local area loose meat sandwich, aka “maidrite” which they call a “made wrong” (LOL ) is a very good representation.
