I was there May 2nd and still think about the Korean Chicken to this day (now Oct 25th). My hubby and I were reminiscing on our trip so I decided to leave a review. Definitely check it out!

AMAZING Hawaiian food.
We stopped by while in Hana this evening and this was personally my favorite plate meal we’ve had so far.
The Korean chicken was the true star. It looks dry visually (I was a little worried) but it was packed with flavor. The Mac salad was a close second though with tons of peppery flavor. Rice is rice, but we were given a heaping portion that made for a very filling meal.
I have never personally loved fish and chips, even after living in the UK, but decided to try it out based on other reviews. The fish truly was very fresh and not super greasy like traditional fish and chips which was very nice. I’d probably choose something else on the next go round since it’s not my thing, but for anyone who enjoys fried fish, go for it!!
Overall this was such a good meal and enough food to easily be split between two people if you’re not starving (perfect for lunch).

You cannot miss this place. It is absolutely fantastic. My husband and I stopped at the food truck area around 4:45 on a Monday evening, did a loop and decided on Capt Sam’s. I got an absolutely massive serving of panko crusted fresh fish with chips and homemade tartar sauce. My husband got the combo plate Korean chicken + fried fish, rice and salad. I have to say, this was the best fish and chips I have ever had, hands down. I heard the owner saying to another customer that they catch the fish fresh themselves 2-3 times a week. You can tell, the quality & freshness is evident. My husband loved his fish and the Korean chicken was also a 10/10. The prices were excellent for the quality and quantity, and the owner provided friendly service with a smile to some lovely country tunes. Thank you so much for an amazing meal on our last night in Maui!! Make sure you hit Capt Sam’s on your way through Hāna.

I had the Ahi Spicy Fresh Tuna Poke, and it was genuinely excellent. Enjoying fresh, perfectly prepared tuna far away from the busy цивилизация made the experience even more special. The rice was delicious, everything tasted fresh and well-balanced, and the order was prepared very quickly. Simple, tasty, and exactly what you want in a place like this. I really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it to anyone passing by.

We had the combo plate and it was delicious. I would recommend their Korean chicken. It’s so good.
Service is great. The guys were friendly and answered our questions about the local area.
They prefer cash. Located in a nice food truck park in Hana. The parking and picnic benches can get really busy at lunchtime.

Guy working was super nice and the food was amazing. I was just visiting the area but if I lived here I would definitely be a regular. I ordered the panko shrimp 10/10 I recommend, it was very good. It’s a nice truck, well put together, food is a bit expensive but it’s Hawai‘i, it’s to be expected. Overall fantastic place to get a quick lunch, good portion size.

Captain Sam’s is one of the food trucks located in the lot just north of Hasegawa General Store in Hana. Parking is almost non-existent, so it’s easier to park on Mill Place across the street. Their prices are a bit on the high side, but the portions are generous – in hindsight, my wife and I should have split one plate lunch. The fish in the fish and chips was mahi mahi which was unusual but very Hawaii. Overall, the food is greasy, good, and very satisfying after a day hiking the Pipiwai. The only downside is that seating is limited, but that’s not really their fault.

Capt Sam’s Food Truck is a standout spot in Hana with fresh, flavorful Hawaiian plate lunches. The Korean chicken and mahi mahi fish and chips are highlights, well-seasoned and generous in portion. Parking can be tricky nearby, so plan to park across the street. The staff is friendly, and the local vibe makes it a worthwhile stop after the road to Hana.
