It’s not the same as 27st. Overly price. I got a large smoke(Fried sausages, rice, and gravy) and it was over $15. I’ve never paid more than $10 for a SMOKE. The sausages was cut differently not enough gravy. Maks in south Norfolk smoke is $7. I will never go back here.

This place takes me to my childhood back in the day when I lived in Lambert’s Point and there was this place called the Rice Bowl on the corner of 39th and Boydens Ferry rd. accross the street from the corner market. This is where I fell in love with fried rice, small smoke, chop suey and of course yak, Norfolk style. So if you’re feeling a little nostalgic for old style neighborhood Chinese takeout you should go there.

My first time trying this place even though it’s been around for yrs. I recently noticed that they opened up where Sun Wah uses to be. I was telling my mom as we rode pass, and she was like GOLDEN GATE!! I said yea, she said I wonder if it the same location that was out park place. I told her yea I think so. She said let’s go check it out. We ordered House Lomein and Shrimp Fried Rice. The things we order to test if we will return . We spoke with the lady and she confirmed that they are the same restaurant. She was nice and was happy that we stopped by. The food was on point takes me back too the Chinese joints I loved back in the day. They’re a little pricey for a joint, but l will definitely be back

Not good is the nicest thing I can say! We had beef and broccoli, shrimp egg foo young & chicken wings. The wings were ok. The egg foo young was brownish and greasy with no veggies or bean sprouts??? The rice was swimming in a very brown pasty gravy. I could taste the raw flour in it. The beef and broccoli had a gluey very dark brown sauce. This is literally the worst Chinese food we have ever had. We regularly order from Golden City III, but they are closed on Mondays, so we decided to try Golden Gate.

We spent over 30 some dollars on steak and fries and chicken wings and rice I won’t listen to nobody else the steak is not steak meat and as soon as he ate it he threw it up gagging and all so that was a complete waste of money,never again!!!!!!!!

Visiting my sister from out of town and found out too late that I should have gone to Chen’s Chinese Restaurant across the street.
I unfortunately went to Golden Gate and she said 10mins which turned into 30mins for general chicken and crab rangoon. Get home and the chicken is dry, there’s barely anything in the rangoon, and the “fried rice” is just white rice drowned in soy sauce. Called and calmly requested a refund and said I’d return the food and the woman started yelling and talking over me. Went in to request refund or to have something else made and she continued to yell so I just left the food/trash with them and left.
