Stopped in for some chicken tenders and I wanted to compare the chicken tenders from canes vs chick fil a. I ordered a few tenders from chick fil a and then went to raising canes and ordered a few tenders to compare which one tasted better. To my surprise and pleasure Raising Canes was far better in the size of the tender and quality of the chicken as well as a better coating. More importantly it tasted so much better and it didn’t have a heavy peanut oil taste like chick fil a. Raising Canes had a cleaner lighter taste. I was very pleased with Raising Canes chicken tenders and the tenders have a great home style chicken taste. Bottom line , much better than chick fil a. Highly recommend raising canes . Try and compare for yourself. It really tastes better.
First time trying Raising Cane’s. I believe this location has been open for about a month, and I finally found a day where there wasn’t a crazy and ridiculously long line wrapped around the building . The crowds have been so over the top every day that I was curious to see what the draw was all about. The restaurant is decorated in a lively and fun theme with comfortable indoor and outdoor seating and up beat music playing in the background. . I noticed the staff were very busy moving about quickly to get orders out, which I was pleased to see. We ordered a 3 piece meal and the 6 piece meal to go. The three meal box comes with fries, a piece of Texas toast and their cane sauce and a drink. The larger 6 piece came with the same but also had cole slaw. Both came with your choice of a fountain drink or lemonade. Service was very fast and friendly, which I liked. This is a good place to bring the entire family, especially kids.
We came into the area for an oil change, had to run a few more errands and found ourselves on Hamilton Street for a late lunch.
Of late, we have been pretty disappointed with fast food eateries but, we had heard some good things about Raising Cane’s from friends who live in the area and, since we don’t have one where we live we pulled in, parked and went inside. There was a drive-thru option, but it’s nice to see the cleanliness of where your food is being prepared.
The order board was bright and simple. There are really only a few options to order; Chicken Fingers, crinkle fries, Texas toast, coleslaw, a Chicken Finger sandwich, and drinks. That’s it. No burgers, no dogs, or tacos, nothing that shouldn’t be at a chicken restaurant.
The counter worker greeted us with a smile and took our order, name, and gave us cups to get our drinks.
There are regular and counter height tables as well as an outdoor seating area.
We got our drinks and condiments and took a two-seat table near the front. A minute or two later our name was called for our order.
We both ordered the three- fingers option.
How nice to have “fast food” actually prepared fresh to order and hot!!!
I am giving the chicken fingers my highest compliment. Other than my mother’s chicken, these fingers were hands down the best I have ever eaten. The meat was tender, plump, and juicy. There weren’t any nasty chewy pieces hiding under the breading. The breading was just enough to give the chicken a bit of extra flavor but wasn’t so much that you couldn’t find the meat under it.
The Texas toast was a trip to “Bread heaven” a soft, pillowy butter enrobed piece of sinful delightfulness.
The crinkle fries, and iced teas were pretty standard fare.
While eating, we witnessed a fast food anomaly…a member of the team actually cleaning tables with sanitizing wipes AND sweeping inside the dining area and bathrooms. Wow! Clean fast food establishments DO EXIST.
As a nice touch, the manager came around to each table to touch base with the customers.
The bathroom was very clean as was the area outside the building.
On a side note, as a dog lover, I liked the story of why the chain is called Raising Cane.
Well done Raising Cane’s folks! We will be back!!
Bread 10/10
Chicken 2/10 (tasted like popeyes breading and chicken tasted like water)
Fries 10/10
Coleslaw 0/10 ( no flavor)
Food was hot and fresh, will try again when in area to make sure it is consistent.
They ran out of coleslaw but I don’t eat that so it didn’t matter to me. Canes sauce was disappointing, it was watery and lacked taste.
Overall we would try it again but I wouldn’t rush back for it. It’s a decent chicken place no more no less.
The music was very loud so it was definitely hard to hear.. which was annoying when trying to have a conversation.
