My friend and I went in at 9:30p (the last round of music bingo) to just try the bingo event. We had already come from a previous restaurant and were not hungry and didn’t think it was responsible to get a drink. We got a water. We were not advised by the waitress Kendal that “we had to” order something in order to be there. Although I would have respected their policy- we were just more excited to try the bingo. About 25 minutes later, the bartender Jocelyn came over to us with a demeanor to fight with an attack and stated that we had been sitting there for a half hour and that she gave us a chance to order something and that this table was for only paying customers and that we had to either order food or a alcoholic drink or we had to leave. She got in our face and told us that we had 5 minutes to decide what we were going to do or leave. There was more to what she said. I felt sick to my stomach by how she was talking to us. I did speak to the manager Thomas about this. I for sure will not be back. And per the comments already given, it seems like this is a regular occurance with rude staff.

Visiting a sibling and her family mid-December 2025 I booked my flight from D.C. to Boston, took C&J Bus from Boston to Dover, and headed straight to my favorite bar in Dover, N.H. – Cara Irish Pub and Restaurant, on 4th Street in Dover. It was mid-day on a weekday, and there was a gathering – sounded like an office function – in the main bar area, so I took refuge at a small table near the front.
Each visit to Cara reinforces my ties to the bar. The wait and bar staff have consistently been helpful and attentive without being intrusive. The menu offers a great example of Irish pub fare, all reasonably priced. I was in for a boilermaker (Maker’s Mark with a side cider), and although it’s not listed on the menu, I ordered a side of fries without the curry. Perfect comfort food in a relaxed pub setting.

Most difficult escape room I’ve ever been to!!! 10/10 recommend. If you’re disappointed you clearly have poor taste.

Be wary of a restaurant that has people spam their Google reviews after a bad review is left.
I will preface this with the good; Kendall (our initial server), you were great and although you didn’t tell us the restaurant policy upon ordering just water after 9pm, you at least admitted to not knowing how to approach it and I respect that.
I’ve been coming to Cara’s for years, and for the past 6 months or so I’ve been coming specifically for Music bingo- I always order and always tip appropriately. This time, I brought a friend who had never been before and given the time we didn’t order anything. Long story short, Kendall served us water as requested and everything was good. Next thing we knew, server Jocelyn approached my friend and I very aggressively and demanded we order something else or we have to leave. No matter what her point was, it all went out the window by how it was approached and I have no intention on going back.

The immediately unfriendly man at the bar asked my friend and I to leave the freaking bar because he thought her ID was fake. We are both almost 30. He was standoffish as soon as she went up for drinks, before he even looked at our IDs and I’m pretty sure he decided beforehand that we would be leaving. I felt extremely offended and like it was because we didn’t look wicked fancy or hipster like the majority of the crowd there. This was my first time at this place and believe that he was discriminating – I’ve never ever experienced that before. Don’t give them your money – go to another place for food and drinks. I can’t tell if he actually thought he was right or was judging us!! Absolutely ridiculous and insane – this has never happened to either of us anywhere, and we had just gotten drinks at Cincos so like obviously our IDs are valid and solid. We’re not children – we are hard working adults who were refused service by some little man running your establishment.

Cara’s is definitely my favorite Irish Pub, and my first choice when I want to grab a drink, or go for a higher class dinner than my usual places. They have lots of seating, tabels, high tabels, large family-sized booths, the bar, and a deck with outdoor seating for the nice weather. They have a pool table in the back along with a dartboard, and places to set your drinks down. Their food is killer every time! Everything I order from them tastes amazing and for those with dietary restrictions they do accommodate. Probably my favorite thing about Cara’s is there’s always somthing happening, whether it’s Open Mic, Music Bingo, Trivia, etc. Cara’s is the perfect place to go “out” for any occasion, with a homey feel of Irish warmth.

Food was incredible! We had come (upstairs to the Chameleon room) to hear a friend play with his music group and decided to get dinner there. I had the haddock sandwich which was panko encrusted haddock and it was SO GOOD!! The fries were delicious also. For dessert I had the chocolate mousse. Delicious!
