If you’re anywhere near Outpost Barbecue Joint, do yourself a favor and stop in.
The place is clean, well-kept, and clearly cared for, which already puts it ahead of half the BBQ joints out there. The service was excellent and immediate. No standing around wondering if you accidentally walked into a museum exhibit.
Now the important part.
The ribs were outstanding. Tender, packed with flavor, and exactly what ribs are supposed to be. No gimmicks, just done right. And the homemade potato salad deserves its own mention. Fresh, balanced, and clearly not coming out of a plastic tub from a grocery store three towns away.
Bottom line: if you’re in the area and you skip this place, that’s on you. Absolutely worth the stop.

Stopped in here after visiting a local nursery. Food was really tasty and generous portions (especially the onion rings). We had the fried chicken sandwich (reminded me of a pork tenderloin sandwich with the chicken pounded flat) and my wife had the brisket sandwich (a bit more lean than she likes but still really good). Staff and waitress was really nice and attentive

I had the worst BBQ brisket I’ve ever had. It was all pieces of fat, which i had to spit out onto napkins,
If you don’t believe me look at the pictures. Based on other pictures, I’d say they gave us a really bad piece, the chef kept staring as from the moment we walked in. Won’t be coming back and do not recommend it at all. The corn bread had a really bad smell and aftertaste. The weird thing is my friend’s cornbread did not have that smell.
Also the restaurant was empty on a Friday night that should have said it all.

Tried this place on a whim on our way home from Kartrite. After we ordered we heard a microwave being used. It was for reheating the Mac n cheese which was mush and didn’t have any cheese. The baked beans were canned. Our kids burger was microwaved and gray. The brisket was a pile of shredded beef with very little smoke flavor and the corn bread was rubbery and bland. The chicken was reheated and very peppery while not having any smoke flavor. Overall a disappointment.
I really wanted to like the place, but microwaving food at a roadside bbq joint is just wrong.

I ordered brisket with fries and coleslaw. The meat was tender and flavorful, and the sides were fresh and crispy. The service was pleasant and quick. Overall, I was satisfied.

I absolutely LOVE this place. When I traveled out there on the weekends 6 hours away from home I would always make a pit stop or 2 here. My favorite is the brisket and chicken combo, Mac and cheese with greens and cornbread. So yummy. Reminds me of home Southern cooking. And the regular bbq sauce is finger licking good.

Every time we’ve tried to go here it would be closed. After a hike, we passed by and it was open! We decided to go inside and try a few things. Everything was delicious. I loved that the chicken sandwich came with cucumber slices not pickles. The corn fritters came with a ranch sauce that I could not get enough of. I even dipped my Mac and cheese in it. Our order was a bit pricey but we did get some extra fries, a drink, and corn fritters. We will be back to try other things on the menu.

Best food around. Staff is incredibly friendly, live music is great, and the SMELL of the place is fantastic. Such a good time, reasonably priced too!

Nice atmosphere, friendly service and good food. Currently they are only open Thursday-Sunday. It was a hot day, so it was hot inside even with the fans blowing…they do have outside seating. Hubs got a full rack of ribs (so he could have leftovers), potato salad, baked beans and cornbread. The meat was fall off the bone tender and he said it was very good. The cornbread was like dessert. I got the pulled pork with potato salad and cucumber salad…it was very good. Thanks for a great meal!

Food was amazing! I didn’t think I was going to finish my brisket sandwich with fries, but after stretching a little I was able to get the last few bites in. Everyone must check it out!
