Can’t believe I’ve never formally reviewed this place!! I had my wedding reception here 10 years ago and frequent this place annually with my husband. We were just back in August to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. Because it’s tucked in the financial district, it can be busy after work/happy hour times but then it can be nice, quiet, and romantic. I love coming here in the summer bc of the patio, and that’s when I got married too. Stunning views of the Chicago River, and very very vey good food! Oh and the best staff 🙂 highly recommend.

Visited along with my colleagues for lunch. We have ordered few appetizers online and when we sit with in 5 minutes it was served. WOW shrimp was awesome.
They took our main course and you know want all of them were served same time. Best time management.
I highly recommend this place to enjoy food

Locating the restaurant was a little tricky. The food here is OK and so is the service. I ended up having the duck and it was different.

I was pleasantly surprised with this hidden gem. We stopped by before our show at Civic Opera. The service was fast and food even better. They have a great bar if you don’t have time for a dinner, but I can highly recommend to try something from their menu. Also, the view is amazing!

Had my wedding cocktail hour here and people talked more about the coconut shrimp than any other food item of the night!! Dan was a pleasure to work with as well as Kelley and the rest of the team. When the weather was colder than expected, they opened up the indoor seating so we could roam and stay warm. Without even being asked! Highly recommend in general and extra for an event!

Went for dinner before a show at the Lyric Opera (less than 1 block) and WOW!! What find! The food and service were excellent and the portions were BIG, especially for the price. If you are looking for a really nice dinner out in Downtown Chicago, I highly recommend.

A solid choice for a nice dinner. As an opera goer we love it’s location to the Lyric, and even with multiple choices we have we always gravitate to Rivers because it fits the bill for a great dinner before the show.

The host and wait staff were amazing. But the food was not good. The Scottish salmon was overcooked. That dish was the special that evening, and you would think it would be cooked to perfection. It simply wasn’t. And the jambalaya was so heavily spiced with black pepper that it was the only thing I could taste in the dish. It left a terrible aftertaste in my mouth for hours. The only good food items we had were the appetizer salads. This restaurant is a miss, and a huge disappointment.

I’ve attended Rivers Restaurant numerous times for sorority events but this visit was for a ‘Thank You’ dinner on Aug 23rd. I’ve had their finger foods/appetizers but this was the first time I had dinner. It was a wonderful experience. I started with the Cucumber Basil Lemonade (TRY IT)…very cool, refreshing drink. We ordered a variety of appetizers so I can recommend the crab cakes, calamari, the guacamole tower and THE SHRIMP BRUSCHETTA! All excellent choices. My main entree was the Shrimp Risotto. Very good. I had a taste of the Chilean Sea Bass (a true winner)! My dessert was the Sweet Potato Bread Pudding. Another winner! All in all, great conversation, great food!
