What a unique restaurant! Greatly enjoyed eating in the dining car and then walking through the circus museum! Bob offers a Sunday morning omelet buffet.

This place is a Diner-esc intimate little spot where Bob personally cooks your omlet to order, with an eclectic circus memorabilia collection (mostly photos) that occupies an entire train car. We loved it very quaint and different. Be aware of the the parking area as there are some hazards that should be repaired or covered so just keep an eye out. Overall a good experience that we will do again.

The food is good and the service is very nice!

I very much appreciate that our server took the time to share stories about the train and it’s history.

Plus, while we didn’t meet Bob, it’s hard not to have great respect for his desire and efforts to preserve the history of the circus in Sarasota.

The biggest thing is that you must take the time to walk through the cars, which are the museum.

So many great things and images that came back to me from my childhood.

This is a must see for circus enthusiasts!!!

We love their “Moose” Burger. The kids also enjoyed their cheese burgers, hot dogs and grilled cheese. What was awesome was that Bob, the owner, took time to tell us the history of the restaurant, his experiences in the military and his short biography that was very interesting. The atmosphere and ambiance of the restaurant was just very classy, and the collections of historic photos makes the experience very special. The service was also excellent. This is definitely a beautiful lunch experience to remember.

We had a great time here. We stopped on the way to the Ringling mansion. A little hard to find. The food was great, I had the Brie and berry sandwich with fresh cut potato chips, delicious. And Bob not only cut the potato’s, cooked the meal, owns the restaurant, and has very interesting stories to tell. If you want good food, unique, and interesting this is the place to go for lunch.

Bob’s Train is quite an eclectic place to go for a meal. Housed in a couple of old circus train personnel cars on a siding in a parking lot in Sarasota, you wouldn’t think this was much of an experience. But once on board in the dining car, greeted by your wonderful server, you start to see that you’re dining in a museum. Photos, paintings and memorabilia on the walls of the train start to tell the story of the people who sat where you’re sitting. Then your server tells you to take a look at the museum in the back cars while your meals r being made. Hundreds to thousands of photos, most signed, going back to the teens and twenties, fill in the circus story and tell about the life of the folks living on that train. And all the while Bob’s in the kitchen the whole time making your meals.
While it’s not going to be the most spectacular meal you’ve ever had, Bob’s food is delicious, and made even more so by eating it in a historic circus train. Bob’s Train is definitely not to be missed when traveling on the Florida West Coast in Sarasota or Bradenton.

Truly enjoyed the ambiance, quick service and diner like food. Our BLT and Almost Chicago dog were the best along with the fries and homemade chips. My grandson (the 6 yr old burger connoisseur) wished his burger was more medium but still enjoyed it. Bob provided great stories and especially his latest project, revitalizing Jomar, John & Mable Ringling’s Pullman car! Quite an undertaking. Fun experience!!

Please don’t go because you want a great meal. Go because you are interested in learning about local history and meeting the extraordinary people who work there. The train is about to be renovated and the parking area improved. Expect that it will be closed for about one month according to Bob. Take time to look at the amazing circus photos and sit in the charming dining room. If possible, take time to talk with Bob, a true Renaissance man, and the force behind preserving this important local destination.
