The service is superb
We came back this afternoon for something light to tide us over until dinner and ordered the same bowls. At this point I ordered two more, as well as a bowl and smoothies for the kids. I noticed the coconut container for the base said coconut sorbet. So I looked at the label. It doesn’t say anything about added sugar but I googled it. Sure enough it said our bowl had 47g added sugar. So I went to their website that confirms this. The young lady this afternoon had only scooped the base and had to call a manager who was not present at the store for a refund. She got on the phone and it seemed to be a hassle. I told her if she could just make something else without refunding the original order that would be fine but that ended up not being an option. I did tell her to forget about it and at that point she did give me a paper brochure they had behind the register that had nutrition information of the products. Sure enough, this bowl is a sugar bomb. The employee said it may be sugar from fruit but that’s not the case with nutrition facts. Added sugar is ALWAYS listed separately from natural sugars occurring in Whole Foods.
I wish the employees were trained properly in the dietary information of their smoothies so as not to give false information. Added sugar is a pretty simple one to learn. Or they could have handed me the brochure with nutrition information they had when I was there the first time today.
I went to SK to get a fairly healthy plant based food option and ended up with extremely unhealthy sugar bombs. If I had not asked specifically it would be a different story, but having been in the food industry for over a decade, I expect people to know and understand information about the product they’re serving.
