I was traveling near Baldwin for work and randomly decided to stop in for lunch at Cousin Willie’s. Honestly, the best decision I made that day. This place is such a hidden gem in Baldwin.

Gina was extremely attentive and friendly. She asked thoughtful questions about my order that you’d usually only hear at fine dining spots, which really stood out to me.

The food was fresh, well seasoned, and absolutely worth the price. Everything tasted made to order and full of flavor. I enjoyed it so much that I came back the very next day for another round.

You will not be disappointed stopping here. Highly recommend if you’re anywhere near Baldwin.

Get off the highway and check out the local digs along the way! I was so excited to see this place still in operation after a wonderful meal a few years back. I had to get the nachos with pulled pork again and it was just as good as I remembered from my last visit! Friendly and helpful staff who will gladly offer suggestions on the menu and even a to go drink when you are leaving. Last time we got the three meat combo with some amazing smoked turkey and brisket. The sides were equally tasty and worth sampling especially the BBQ beans and collard greens. So I recommend you get off I-10 and away from the national chain restaurants and support a local down to earth and darn tasty food joint like Cousin Willie’s!

We stopped for lunch as we traveled home from Tampa. Always looking for a good local place, Cousin Willie’s Smokehouse piqued our interest. We enjoyed the food immensely. Our choice was Brunswick stew and the sloppy smokehouse sandwich with fresh cut fries. The Brunswick stew was great, more chunky than most others I have had. The sandwich, a mixture of pork and brisket was delicious as well as the fresh fries. I was surprised there was not a line out the door! When Guy finds out and DDD gets the word, the days of no line will be over! We’re heading right by in a couple of weeks and definitely will stop for another delicious BBQ dinner.

Interesting little place pumping out some pretty good bbq.
Ordered the combo dinner dinner for two. 4 Meats and 4 sides. Ordered ribs, beef, and pork. Was bummed they did not have turkey, so we went with the sausage as our fourth meat. The beef was brisket, thick cut, nice and juicy. The pork was pulled pork, and the ribs were two huge pork ribs. Everything cooked nicely with a little chew and little smoke but still tender. The sausage reminded me of a bratwurst but not exactly. It’s more like a hot dog, bratwurst combined if that makes sense. Our sides mac n cheese, which was just meh. Cooked casserole style, which dries it out. The baked beans were canned pork and beans with a little doctoring up with o believe very small and very little onion and bbq sauce added. We also got the Brunswick stew, which is all the leftovers thrown in a pot and stewed and bbq sauce added. Not bad actually. And our fourth side was the sweet potato fries. These were good and could have been excellent if they were dusted with some brown sugar or even some salt. Still really good sweet potato fries. Forgot to mention they serve this plate up with 4 slices of texas toast, which they call garlic bread. Didn’t get much garlic bread vibe out of these as they were simply hit with a small amount of butter. Still really good with the meats.

We found everything to be good, but not excellent. We then realized that everything needed some salt and pepper. Once we got that figured out, this little unsuspecting restaurant turned into a place with a ton of potential.

Waitress was on point and helpful.

Our total bill (because we both ordered water) was only $30! It’s a truly amazing deal for all the food we got. Would definitely stop by again if we are in the area! Keep up the good work!

Not the same as the last visit we made. Food wasn’t fresh or juicy. Seems like it was made much earlier ..too much. We expected those delicious ribs they usually have…used to have? They were puny!! Very small and no smoked taste, very dry. Disappointment we ordered the BBQ plate for two with 4 meats and 4 sides. I got their baked beans and onion rings at an upcharge (+$2.45?) they were awful. I was hoping for fresh homemade but got what seemed like frozen cheapo ones. Their beans were good with a little spice- could use more spice and less sugar. Hubby got the fresh homemade fries! Wow!! I should have just ordered fries. They are hands down the BEST FRIES I EVER HAD!! Delicious the beef was tasteless. She said it was brisket but that’s not brisket to me. The shredded pork was the best meat of all four. The chicken was very small and dry just like the ribs. One girl running the whole show! So our drink cups remained empty pretty much the entire time. Maybe put a pitcher on the table? $50 plus tip…tip?? Yes we tipped but I won’t be back. It’s definitely not the restaurant it used to be. It was one of our favorites. For now on we will just drive farther and eat at Tremendous, or Gator. Hopefully they haven’t changed.
The menu was new.
The prices went up.
The quality went down.
Please fix it!

I loved the burger. My wife wasn’t as thrilled. I’m likely to return again given the opportunity.

Modest local place serving generous portions of very tasty BBQ at value prices. Staff was friendly and helpful. While the decor is basic everything is clean and neat. On site parking.
The fried pickles were excellent. If you are in the neighborhood, give this place a try.
