Pictures don’t give justice of how delicious everything was. We came twice in a row. De chicken soup and peas soup I did not take pictures. My favorite was potato to naan. Tofu masala. Lamb was awesome. Lentil curry the spice level was wow delicious

All the great staples with a little something more that makes the dishes shine. Edit: Unfortunately I’ve had to lower my rating. I enjoy lamb and the last few times we’ve gone back it’s been dry, chewy, and full of gristle (understewed?). I really liked this place and had a great experience at first. Maybe don’t order lamb takeout?

If you like Taste of Himalayas, you’re going to immediately stop going and start going here instead because WOW!

The Chicken Jhol Momo was FANTASTIC (seriously I could just get 2 orders of this and be on cloud 9).

We also ordered the Palak Peneer and Bitter Chicken with a side of Garlic Naan. Both dishes were diverse with flavor. The chicken was seasoned to perfection and the curries were the perfect temp to keep indulging from the first bite.

The staff here are very kind and helpful too! We can’t wait to come back again and try more of their dishes!

What a gem this is, surrounded by about 52,427 Mexican restaurants in the Old Town area of San Diego!

My fiancée and I ate here for our anniversary this past weekend and found everything about it really relaxing and super friendly. The interior of the restaurant is small, with most guests opting for outdoor dining on their large patio, which is clean and really inviting. We did choose to eat inside, however, as it was a bit chilly outside for us.

The staff are very friendly and super attentive — we never had to ask for water to be refilled or wave at them for anything; they were on top of our needs from start to finish, and couldn’t have been nicer. Service was prompt and food/drink was served in a very timely manner.

The food here is delicious. The star of the meal were the steamed Chicken Momo dumplings! Oh, man! You could literally each order a plate of these little nuggets of yum, and that could be dinner; no joke! These are a must.

We also had the Cheese Naan bread, along with their Chicken Tikka Masala, both of which were fantastic. Of note — since this isn’t a straight-up Indian restaurant, their Chicken Tikka Masala is creamier and sweeter than what you might expect (other Indian places make it more savory and spicy). I asked for “mild” heat on mine, and easily could have had “medium,” I believe.

I had Mango Iced Tea and my fiancée had Mango Lassi, both of which were refreshing and super tasty.

The prices here are definitely very good, considering the tourist hot spot this restaurant is found in. If we were San Diego locals, this would definitely be in our rotation! Dining here was definitely a highlight of our anniversary weekend! Highly recommend it! GET THE CHICKEN MOMOS!

The service was excellent. We were seated promptly upon arrival, and our food arrived quickly. While we requested a spice level of 7 out of 10, the food was not spicy at all. However, the flavor was good. We had a curry and a Momo. The portion sizes were somewhat small. The curries were served with a bowl of rice, but the rice was a bit insufficient to go with the entire curry. The Momo contained approximately 6-7 dumplings, which were also relatively small.

Best quality Nepalese food I’ve had in San Diego and probably have eaten at every one. Best deal is the lunch specials on weekdays. Service is somewhat slow and they are always still cleaning when I get there at 11:15 am.

Start off with a lentil soup. It was mild in terms of heat but very in terms of amount of spice. A perfect amount to start the meal. It arrived hot.

Chaat spice mix in the samosa was amazing. The tamarind sauce it came with was sweet and balanced. It complemented the slight heat and complex flavors in the spice of the samosa filling. The outside was crunchy but still soft.

Now for the thali.
1. The rice was very fragrant and quite nice. The papad had a strong flavor, in a good way.
2. The saag (spinach dish) was amazing. I could have eaten just this and garlic naan and been happy, truly. It had a subtle cheesy flavor as an undertone to the spices used. It made this a rich and deep, flavorful and creamy dish.
3. The shrimp Tikka masala had a good flavor curry to it. However, the shrimp wasn’t my favorite. The shrimp still had tails on, which made for a very messy meal. I had to pull them off but couldn’t see where the tail ended, so I had to try not to fling sauce. Also, the shrimp were overcooked, so the texture wasn’t quite right, which I’m sure isn’t easy to get the timing right when cooking in a sauce. Wasn’t worth the extra $3. I’ll definitely have the Tikka masala again, but with the chicken.
4. Also in my thali was a cold potato carrot salad. It was okay, but I wasn’t in the mood for a cold dish so didn’t eat it. It wasn’t bad tasting, just not spectacular.
5. I always enjoy a green salad, and this dressing was a nice balsamic, maybe with a tamarind? One bite and I ended up finishing the whole salad before trying anything else. Not sure what made it so good, but I enjoyed it.
6. Lastly, for my meal, the garlic naan, really flavorful. Not too greasy. Some parts were thicker than I’d like, but these were the softer parts. The thinner parts were a little over cooked, which made it harder to use these for eating my food with. I use those parts more like chips.

As for the portions, they’re a good amount. The thali without the lentil soup or samosa would have been a good amount for me and I wouldn’t have finished the rice. With these, I ended up taking home leftovers.

That being said, my partner finished his full bowl of chicken tikka and rice. This was good, but not great. It was boneless chicken, which was most. However, the chicken pieces were rather large, so the flavor on the outside was good, but the inside just tastes like chicken. Smaller pieces would have given a stronger flavor with each bite

We both had a very small dinner that night, so it was quite filling.

Lastly, we had masala chai. It was good, but rather expensive for one cup. It did have a very authentic flavor profile which is hard to find, so I appreciated that.

Will I be back, yes. Was it expensive, yes. Will I order chicken in some kind of curry next time, also yes.

Next time I return for lunch, I’ll probably just get a couple samosas and then a plate of chicken something and an order of garlic naan to share with my partner.

Also, just in case, if you’re using the Synergy gift cards, these can’t be used for the thali, so check what you buy beforehand to make sure you can use it.

I have visited this place multiple times and it has never failed me to impress. I just loved their customer service. Especially, I like vegetables Momo, chow mien, cauliflower curry and my husband’s favorite is goat and lamb curry. We will visit again soon to try other dishes as well. Honestly speaking, If you are looking for authentic Nepalese and Indian cuisine, this place would be the perfect match for you.

Was craving some Indian food and this was one of the few close enough to my hotel.
Naan: bread was a little dry and tough but it did take 45 mins for delivery.
Lamb Biryani: was absolutely delicious! Huge portions and the most meat I’ve seen in a biryani in a long time.
Goat curry: was piping hot even after the long delivery. Very flavourful and good amount of meat in it.

The food is always excellent. The Momos, butter chicken and saag paneer are my go-tos. The garlic naan is also fantastic. Shout out to the wonderful service too which even when they’re packed, handle themselves amazing and get your food out as timely as possible. One of my favorite restaurants in San Diego.
