We stopped in on a road trip back home and are now wishing we had one of these in Louisville, KY. The customer service was fantastic – since we had never eaten there before, we had lots of questions and the sweet young lady at the counter was very helpful and answered all of our questions and was so patient. Our food was fantastic. We had the original Petro, nachos, and a loaded potato. We can’t wait for another road trip so that we can stop here again! I’m honestly not sure why there are any bad reviews but I guess everybody has an off day . The young lady had told me her favorite was the grilled chicken nachos and she did not steer me wrong. They were so good! My son had the loaded potato, it was cooked perfectly and was nice and fluffy with plenty of toppings. My husband got the Frito pie (that’s what I would call their original Petro) and that was good too. The cucumber salad – yum! I had to operate self control not to order more to take home. And although usually to me, a cookie is a cookie, the chocolate chip cookies were also really good!

I’ve been waiting for these nachos!!! I also like the self serve drink station. The amount of toppings on the nachos was perfect

This is a unique fast food experience, and it is definitely worth a shot. If you’ve ever had a Frito Pie or a Walking Taco, it’s that but in a bowl. It’s less fun in a bowl than the other versions, since you don’t get to envelop that warm bag of chips, chili and stuff with your palm. Sort of like eating ice cream out of a bowl instead of cone. One way’s just more exciting. Still, it totally works, and speaking of works, get that. Put absolutely *everything* in that bowl for maximum pleasure. Also, the place is called Petro’s. Petro = Peter. Cool name! 😉

Petro’s just reopened this week, so I went in hopeful.
The good news: the chili is still decent, and the place looks nice. No complaints there.
The not so good news: the service felt like a soft opening that forgot to tell the staff it was a soft opening. Everyone seemed polite enough, but also strangely detached, like they were all processing the same minor tragedy at once. Not full despair, just a quiet “that wasn’t supposed to happen” vibe.
Our order got mixed up. My wife asked for pasta and no jalapeños (clearly stated on the ticket). What came out was something entirely different.
The manager checked the ticket and told us jalapeños are now standard, but he’d “fix it this time.” A few minutes later, he came back out to ask (again) what we ordered. We showed him the ticket (again) and eventually got the right bowl.
I’m fairly sure our order got swapped with someone else’s, because another customer nearby was also trying to solve the mystery of the wrong meal.
To be fair: my chili dogs were good. No notes.
That said, the prices are a bit hard to justify sitting around $9–$10 for fairly simple chili dogs, chili bowls, and baked potatoes. Not outrageous, but it does raise expectations the experience didn’t quite meet.
It’s early, and I hope they find their rhythm. Right now, though, it felt more reopening-adjacent than reopened.

Pretty disappointed since the reopening of this location. With the menu and decor changes, it feels less family owned and more corporate. Ordered a petro with queso. Got a laughable drizzle of queso (even though they charge you extra for it), and didn’t get sour cream. Will probably try again but I’m quite discouraged. At least their tea is still good…

I ordered the family pack, a gallon of orange tea, and chili cheese hotdogs. The service was wonderful, the restaurant very clean and the food was excellent. I’m so glad we chose for our family Sunday lunch. Thank you so much.

I came in for the 1st time yesterday and had the pulled pork nachos. It was good and the staff said try the potatoes next time. I came back today and it was VERY GOOD. Nice group of kids working here with lots of energy and respect. This truck driver will return!!

Have utilized dine in and drive thru since reopening. Food was wonderful. Service and timing could be better. If you ask for extra sour cream on the side, you will not get it. :/
