Had a delicious set menu lunch here. Food was Asian-influenced French. My starter was slices of raw beef in a broth flavoured with various ingredients including Thai basil and lemongrass. Main was a duck breast with diced apricots and carrots. Dessert was the chef’s take on lemon meringue. All great. Vegetarian options for my partner were limited, but the staff suggested a combination of selections from other dishes that worked very well.

We stopped here for a meal on our way to Montpelier from Ardeche on a Saturday in July when the traffic was very bad and the aire de Mornas rest area was a mob scene with lines for gas and lines for the restrooms. This cafe was only 8 minutes off of our route and what a wonderful find it was. We took our time and ended up enjoying a fantastic meal.

The 3-course lunch menu at 22€ is good value. Good quality food and nice atmosphere. The service was split between the waitress and the chef/patron who was a laugh.

Great restaurant, friendly staff,we had two steaks with chips two children’s menus,a large pelforth beer, two gins and two cokes. On a sunday afternoon.. bill came to 104 euros, food was delicious.. would recommend the cafe de France

Rude and uninterested staff. At lunchtime after 20 minutes sitting otherside waiting for service with and staff in and out serving other tables we went inside to be told they don’t serve drinks at lunchtime. Fair enough but so rude not to approach our table and enquire if we were looking for food.
We subsequently returned at 9pm one evening. I immediately went inside looking for service, waited 10 minutes while the waiter took an order from a table. When he finished I asked if we could have drinks outside to which he replied “one minute “. At least 15 minutes later he was removing plates from table next to us and when we eventually got his attention he gestured to leave, as in he wasn’t interested in serving us.
Rude and uninterested. Name over door says Bar and Restaurant, don’t go there looking for drinks or service.
