Golden Tree Cafe
After saving their pennies, they were able to afford a place of their own, a small building in Riverton, Utah. Old House. After a couple years of booming …

Since Kowloon shut down in west valley years ago, we have been searching for a suitable replacement, and I think our search is finally over. The egg food young was absolutely very close to our previous Chinese food location of choice. We also got the sweet and sour pork, and the delicious shrimp. The egg rolls were absolutely delicious. The service was so attentive and super nice and helpful. This is now, our go to Chinese!!!!

The woman that works at the cash register and waitresses are incredibly rude. The waitress we got would walk circles around the booths and just stare at us while we ate. There were 2 of us but we ordered a dinner for 3 so we could have leftovers and the woman at the cash register and a woman who sat looking at magazines while staring at us, kept laughing at us. Our meal came with fried rice. It was a funky orange color, clumpy, had grey ham, and no vegetables. When we cut open the clumps the rice was bright yellow. The booth next to us got fried rice and it was a normal color with vegetables in it. The restaurant is dirty and old. Left feeling discriminated against, judged, and frustrated we waisted our time or money there. Will never return…ever.

The best Chinese restaurant in town! I’ve been going here the last nearly 20 years, and still love it. Their Egg Rolls are the best I’ve ever had. Chow Mein and rice stunning.
We always get the #2 meal. They have really speedy service and pretty good prices. I’ll admit the chicken is a but tough, but the sweet and sour sauce on it makes it great.

Wow…just horrible. I cannot believe how bad the food was here. The soup was bland with no flavor whatsoever. Their chicken was overcooked and rubbery, and the ham fried rice was crunchy. Plus, the ambiance is horrible. A rundown, second rate hole in the wall. It was a sad, sad experience. I don’t understand how other reviewers rated this place above a 2-star. Especially with so many better Chinese restaurants within minutes of this location. Yikes.

The food was aweful! Chicken chow mein was edible, chicken lo mein was terribly dry, never have I had Orange chicken quite like that, ham fried rice horrible (rice and ham nothing else) super dry! Will not order from them again!

The food was HORRIBLE! The noodles are overcooked and gummy, the egg rolls have a sterile taste, they honestly taste like a bandaid. 3 people at the table all took 1-2 bits, and we all are done! What an absolute joke! This is the worst food I’ve ever had. I never, and I mean, never leave a bad review. But there was absolutely nothing good about this food. Ops, I lied, my wife just said the water was good.

Yikes! This place is the worst Chinese food ever. The food comes out and looks ok but it’s just freezer food put in a fryer and it comes out dry and tasteless. We went here for our “Chinese food on Christmas day” tradition but the fried wonton was the only item that seemed prepped within the past 36 hours. The photos look good but we gave all the many leftovers to someone who tossed them after tasting them. Even the egg drop soup is strange and a combo of chicken noodle and egg drop. They even have the take out styrofoam just placed behind seats so you can already load it up without talking to anyone. Other reviews said the women were rude, I didn’t experience that. But definitely avoid. Terrible! Every bite was so disappointing and you just go “well I need to fill my stomach, even if it’s dry and tasteless.” Places like this cannot exist. Do not give them more money. Let them be replaced with restaurants that use good quality ingredients!

It was Chinese food night and we picked the Golden Tree Chinese & American food restaurant. The restaurant has been a Riverton, UT favorite for over 30 years. I haven’t visited the Golden Tree for almost 20 years. The food was delicious and the service was great just like I remembered! We will be going back and ordering take out soon!
We tried one of their dinner combos for two. The meal came with soup, coffee or tea and you picked four menu items. The soup was so good and our toddler loved it. We also had the chicken lo mein, pork loved mein, two egg rolls, ham fried rice and honey chicken. The portions are a great size and we have a good amount of leftovers for tomorrow.
The lo main dishes had a good balance of noodles, vegetables and protein.
The ham fried rice was just what you want and it was a great addition to the noodles when you mix everything together.
The egg rolls come with a yummy house sauce with spicy mustard. Too spicy for me. I asked for a side of sweet n’ sour sauce and they were great!
The honey chicken was just the right amount of sweet and crunchy on the outside with tender chicken.
If you are looking for a great family friendly Chinese & American restaurant try the Golden Tree in Riverton.

The sauce is very sweet for the orange chicken. The sauce had a weird taste to it. Price was very fair. Egg roll was really good. Rice was average, it was just rice and ham but no veggies. I would try something else.
