If you’re in Mars Hill, Maine, you HAVE to stop by Timberwolves! From the second you walk in, you can feel the pride the owner takes in this place. The atmosphere is absolutely top-notch — warm, welcoming, and full of that perfect small-town Maine charm. It’s the kind of spot where you instantly feel at home, whether you’re there with family, friends, or just grabbing a bite after a long day.
Now let’s talk about the brisket burger… hands down one of the best I’ve ever had. Juicy, smoky brisket cooked to perfection, stacked high, and packed with flavor in every bite. You can tell it’s made with care and quality ingredients. And the fries? Golden, crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside — perfectly seasoned and the ideal match for that incredible burger.
The owner has truly created something special in Mars Hill. The food, the atmosphere, and the attention to detail all deserve five stars. Timberwolves is a local gem, and we’ll absolutely be back again and again!

Walked out of here full, happy, and immediately got on here to leave a 5 star review. As soon as we entered, we were greeted with a smile like it was old friends, and with our toddler they were extremely accommodating, even offering to move a small table into the bathroom so I could change him. The space is beautiful, homey, warm, and most importantly- the food was 10/10. We tried the haddock burger special and the pork belly tacos- highly recommend either option. Ate too quickly to grab a photo, but the presentation was amazing, as well. We will absolutely be back. Thank you!

Stopped at Timberwolves for lunch while snowmobiling through Mars Hill. Smelled so good when we walked in. Mike the owner greeted us with a warm and friendly smile. The place was warm and cozy with a wood fire on. I had the Haddock special sandwich with slaw – fresh and good tasting. Adult son had pork belly meal also smelled and tasted great. Would definitely stop again.

This place has potential but could use some work. First issue, $10.50 for a small light draft beer, whereas any other location in The County is half that. The brisket was very plain and could use seasoning.
Why is the menu on a dirty photocopy paper that says “soft opening” if it has been open for years?
For safety reasons, the door on the front of a woodstove should not be left open. The bathroom has no heat, not just cold, no baseboard, no FHA, nothing.
The owner struggled with a system to cash customers out. Last tidbit, change the music, our group listens to a wide variety, but felt like we were in a NYC club.
Positives, large bar seating, large interior space, newer interior upgrades.
We were a group who rode in on snowmobiles and parked behind the building and are all from here in Maine.

Five stars could never, ever be enough. Hands down, the best food I’ve had in all of Maine, maybe all of the Northeast.
When you walk in, the scents of smoke, roasting meat, sweet maple, and tangy bbq envelop you. It’s small and cozy but not at all cramped. The service was phenomenal, the owner and staff beyond friendly.
We had the loaded fries to start, and man were they loaded. Every thick, hand-cut, perfectly cooked fry was covered in cheese and bacon.
Then the burgers, BBQ, and sides came out. This food was *so good.* The burgers were artfully styled and piled with flavor. And HUGE portions! I had the bourbon burger, my son devoured the Hawaiian, and my husband tore into the riblet dinner. The biscuit tasted FRESH and fluffy. Then… The waiter asked if we wanted dessert, which was a special spice cake. My son wanted to try it so we ordered a slice. We’d actually been sitting near the owner/chef and had chatted back and forth a bit, super sweet gentlemen. He’d mentioned that it was a very old, Native American recipe.
When I bit into that cake, I started crying. That one bite took me back a decade, to before my grandmother passed away, sitting at her table in Oklahoma. She called it raw apple cake, because she added diced, raw apples to the batter. They cook down to almost nothing but add moisture and density and sweetness like nothing else. I told him that, through an embarrassing amount of tears. He was floored that I recognized the recipe, and we both ended up in tears after he called his own mom to tell her.
I was already impressed with the food, but that was an absolute gift from the universe. And from the owner, literally, as he wouldn’t let me pay for the cake.
I am so thankful that we stopped by Timberwolves today, and we will definitely go back before we leave next week.

It was great to enter and it not be crowded or loud. Great music playing and a wonderful drink at the bar! Delicious food and I loved that the owner came out from the kitchen to check on how his customers were liking their food. The bartender was amazing too!

The place was extremely dirty and the food was just plain terrible. My burger was raw and when I requested a new one the man was extremely rude, I asked to speak to the manager and he informed me that he is indeed the owner of the restaurant. I was completely taken back to learn that someone who acted so immature and inexperienced could be the actual owner of this place. Although I had been nothing but kind when requesting that my burger be cooked more than it was, he acted like I was the biggest pain in his rear and that I was annoying him to with my complaints. He even made a comment about me being a picky eater. And said that I must not be from around here. And this wasn’t said in a friendly manner… I was embarrassed as people were staring at us. But as soon as I thought this situation couldn’t get any worse… they brought me back one that was so overcooked I probably wouldn’t have been able to bite through it, but I didn’t want it anywhere near my mouth. I wanted to cry. I asked for my bill. He charged me for both burgers. I put my money on the table and walked out… he was laughing as I walked away and I haven’t felt that bullied since high school. Actually, this was worse than high school.
