We’ve been watching videos of food and had to try it! Mimi was amazing and such an nice woman! The food was great and we wish her luck and she’ll get her own place everyone will visit and try for. Grinding up her spices from her homeland to baking, she does it all!! From Eastern Africa. Soo good! The mandasi was fresh, lamb right on the bones, beef stew, chicken curry and jerk chicken, beans. I even tried the liver and it was ok…. A little different. The Nsima was a little bit different so I dipped it in the suace.
A place you would never even think of being somewhere you could eat at. Thank you for the hospitality today Mimi! Hope you remember us!

The food was phenomenal! I ordered goat curry with mandasi (some sort of rice/bread to dip the sauce in), collard greens, and beans. My partner got jerk chicken with fried plantains. Also absolutely delicious! Nothing was dry and so flavorful! Great portions, too.

If you’re ever in South Bend, stop by this small family owned restaurant.

I came here with my wife for my birthday to celebrate my Afrikan heritage, and we were blown away. Walking in, the atmosphere was great. Smelled amazing, music was quiet enough where you can speak at a regular volume but loud enough to hear.

Service was spectacular. Extremely kind, fast, checked in on us but also wasn’t constantly bugging us. Made sure to even ask things like “You know this is the okra, right?” to ensure we knew what we were ordering.

The food? Out of this world. So flavourful and tender. Great temperature, not cold at all but also wasn’t so hot it burnt our mouths. And the AMOUNT of food was amazing. For $18, I got two entire plates full of food. I’ll find any excuse to find myself in the South Bend area from now on, just to go here.

My husband was told about this place from someone and went and got Oxtail dinner and jerk chicken. It was horrible! I don’t even do food reviews like this but I would never try this place again. There was absolutely no seasoning on anything at all! The greens smh, were so bad it’s not even funny. They didn’t even taste like greens… we usually go to International Fuse Bar to get our oxtails and that’s where I will continue to go…. Because this was Just ridiculous.

Really lovely little East African restaurant. They have a buffet on Sundays for $23ish where there are at least 6 different meat dishes/curries, along with some fish options, vegetable sides, mandus and sambusas, and rice and nsima. The flavors are great & the meat falls off the bones! Everything tastes really fresh too. A really great place to get a big lunch after church!

High quality, authentic Malawian food. The Sunday buffets may be the best value in the SB area. Very good samosas, excellent oxtail and incredible jerk chicken

Absolutely delicious! I had the Spicy Goat with fried rice and cabbage—everything was full of flavor, great quality, and deeply satisfying. The goat was perfectly seasoned, and the rice and cabbage complemented it beautifully. We finished with their puff puff (fried dough), which was warm, fluffy, and the perfect sweet treat. Mimi’s African Restaurant offers a truly authentic and exotic taste of Africa. Highly recommended.
