I was very impressed with this place! Tucked away in uptown Maumee is this very cute sandwich shop. I kept hearing about it so we decided to try it for our Sunday family brunch. We were greeted by a very sweet worker and had no problem finding a spot to sit at. I will say there is a little bar in the back so it has a little something for everyone. Although, there is no changing table in the bathrooms and no high chairs, so if you’re bringing a child who needs those things I’d come prepared. There were so many delicious looking options, even a grilled cheese for our little. Everything was fantastic. They even had live music which was a nice touch.

While visiting downtown Maumee for the Summer Fest, we stumbled upon Side Cuts and it instantly became a highlight of our trip. The place has a fun and welcoming vibe with its unique décor, from the inflatable shark above the bar to the Sasquatch figures and other playful touches throughout. The seating areas are cozy, the lighting adds warmth, and there is even a bar tucked away in the back for those who want to relax with a drink.
The sandwiches here are incredible, made fresh and full of flavor. The attention to detail is evident not only in the food but in the care for the space. The restroom was spotless and thoughtfully designed, which speaks volumes about the pride they take in cleanliness, giving us confidence that the kitchen is just as well-kept.
We had the pleasure of meeting Joel, the owner, who was friendly and welcoming. His personality and the creative touches he has added around the restaurant make the space both comfortable and memorable. Side Cuts is the kind of place that makes you feel at home while giving you something fun to notice in every corner. We will definitely be back next time we are in Maumee.

Alright, this is a local business so I’m going to be as fair as I can. My dad and I just finished up a round at the local golf simulator and wanted our usual pint and meal. He told me about this new place so we went inside. The elderly group of individuals came in before us and sat down at the tables so we assumed it was a sit-down restaurant. After about 30 seconds to a minute, only person behind the counter (which I am assuming is the owner) came out and explained to their table that when they’re ready to order they can go up to the counter. My dad and I wait in line and then we proceed to order at the counter and I got a water and paid without issue. My dad ordered his meal and ordered a water as well. However, my dad is 65 and has vision problems due to a stroke and struggled with the payment method because it involved “tapping”, which my dad was beyond self-learning in that moment and needed assistance. The employee/owner showed almost no patience and clear annoyance on his face for my elderly father. My dad took a water bottle from the refrigerator because it was not explicitly mentioned that there would be tableside service. However, the employee did not stop my dad from taking one, which was kind.
Once we got our food I noticed that my sandwich was not served with coleslaw. I had to go get up to ask where my coleslaw was and the guy motioned to the other employee who must have walked in late and said “Yeah, she’s getting it right now.” That’s not how it works though. Meals should only be sent out when they are fully prepared and ready to go. Additionally, when the coleslaw was brought I had to get my own utensils, which is fine but again there were no clear instructions or signs in the store or any verbal instructions from any employee guiding us to grab any necessary silverware and napkins before we sit back down after ordering.
All in all I was pretty satisfied with my vegetarian mushroom sandwich and the coleslaw was to my liking as well and I am extremely picky about coleslaw.
Lastly, I wanted to mention that there were four to five different beer signs both on the interior and the exterior windows of the restaurant. But as far as we were aware that establishment did not sell alcohol.
It felt like we were in the Twilight due to a lack of clarity with how the restaurant operates it was assisting in payment methods or having a clear sign that says order here under the cash register or letting customers know that somebody will be by with water glasses, or that silverware can be found on the far side of the counter, etc.
It’s a shame that the customer service was very lacking because I think the place has potential.

I’m very picky and before today I had never ordered a sandwich from a restaurant without asking for changes. Finally a restaurant makes a sandwich without mayo! I had the Cannonball Praire and I wanted to sing to it because it was so good!
Everything is made in house, including their salad dressings! Fantastic food and a great staff!

Definitely a nice little spot if you enjoy sandwiches. I will definitely be back! It has a quaint little bar as well you can get a beer with your food if you’re into that type of thing!!

A super cool sandwich shop in the downtown area of Maumee. You can tell they take great pride in their sandwiches and the ingredients are high quality. Loved the rye bread and highly recommend the Wabash for something a little different and off the beaten path of sandwiches. I can’t explain it, but it just works. The environment is fun and the small bar area was cool. 10/10 would recommend Side Cuts to anyone looking for something a little different.

Was surprised by the order and pay at the counter service. No draft beer in the bar. At the time we showed up there was no bartender. Needed extra napkins and employee kind of tossed a few at us and let us know there were almost out. Sandwich was okay…..wish they had fries….bag chips instead. I can say we tried it.
