A True Taste of Korea in Naperville! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Amazing authentic Korean dishes at Gumii. Our meal here truly felt like we were back in the “Land of the Morning Calm.” The flavors were spot-on and reminded us of home-cooked meals in Korea.
We enjoyed a variety of traditional favorites:
돌솥비빔밥 (Dolsot Bibimbap): Served perfectly sizzling in a clay bowl with beef, vegetables, and a sunny-side egg.
김밥 (Kimbap): Delicious rice rolls filled with vegetables, pickled radish, and fish cake.
소고기국 (Spicy Beef Soup): A flavorful, hearty broth with beef, daikon radish, and mung bean sprouts.
순두부찌개 (Sundubu Jjigae): A wonderfully spicy soft tofu stew packed with seafood and vegetables.
우거지탕 (Ugoji Tang): Tender beef short rib and napa cabbage in a savory Korean miso broth.
Every dish was accompanied by tasty sides (banchan), including spicy cucumbers, seasoned vegetables, and rolled egg. It was an incredible dining experience from start to finish.

Wow! We were pleasantly surprised at how good everything we tried at Gumii is and we tried a lot. Our favorite entree is the Gumii Beef Bulgogi. Can’t go wrong with any of the small plates. They had Spicy Ramen (new to the menu), which was delicious. This was our first visit. We will definitely be coming back.

Great service, always very friendly. The To-Go packaging is great! The food is always made fresh and tastes amazing, whether you dine in or take it to go. I highly recommend their dumpling soup and scallion pancakes!

Short ribs are good and banchan is tasty, especially the fish cakes and cucumbers.
Soondubu jjigae has a good portion of shrimp and tofu but lacks depth of flavor.
Kimchi fries were good, they’re McDonald’s-style fries, if you like those. The kimchi tasted pretty good too.
Service is good. Girl at the register made us uncomfortable a couple of times with her comments to us or other customers but she wasn’t unfriendly, just lacking social awareness.
I would come back to try the tteokbokki with fishcake because of how good the fishcake banchan tasted

I ordered the corn dog, fried chicken, beef dumplings, and kimbap. The kimbap was so fresh and savory, the corn dog, fried chicken and beef dumplings were so crispy and lightly breaded. The beef dumplings were juicy and tender on the inside, with a flaky crust. The chef is so kind, and I love his passion for his job. The atmosphere was nearly decorated with personal touches with Polaroid pictures, and was very clean. Definitely recommending, and will be coming again! Thank you for this outstanding introduction to Korean cuisine!

By far one of the best authentic Korean restaurants we’ve been to so far in IL. I’ve been craving bibimbap and theirs was delicious. My husband also ordered their kimchi fried rice, japchae and the spicy beef noodle soup. Everything we had was delicious. The atmosphere was also super homey and the service was amazing. Would highly recommend!

Scrumptious food!!! and very good service! I’ve had rice cakes at plenty of other places, but nothing compares to this one. Perfect amount of spice and flavor. The texture too! Wow. The Kimbap is fresh and literally perfect. I loved everything I’ve tried from their menu so far. The cozy atmosphere makes each visit special and every meal feels like a treat. I tried Gumii when I was in the area randomly, and now I do a 45-minute drive just to eat from here. Also, Aia who works here is so sweet

For going on two years now, I’ve eaten lunch at Gumii almost every Saturday. Gumii feels like a warm hug in the form of food and never ceases to put me in a good mood for the rest of the day. The owners cook with love, enjoy interacting with their customers, and are eager to prepare only the best food for them. After I hurt my ankle, one of the owners even signed my cast! During times when Gumii wasn’t too busy, I have heard the staff singing in Korean and laughing together. The cleanliness of the restaurant and calming music adds to the warm and friendly atmosphere.
Finding better food is a nearly impossible challenge, I will always prefer Gumii!
