Was in the area for a work trip, love trying local places when I travel. Came in a little before 7PM on a Wednesday evening, got seated fairly quickly… no issue there. Kind of dark inside, but the setup and decor were nice. My server was amazing, and the vibe from the staff as a whole was upbeat. Beer selection was good and I enjoyed my choices. I was relaxing a bit and snacking on my Appetizer, so I was in there about 15 minutes before I ordered my meal. I ordered the flat iron steak special, and it was the most disappointing part of the experience. Either it was one of the toughest steaks ever cooked, or I was given the dullest knife ever made. Flavor was fine, but it wasn’t really enjoyable and I left most of it. The appetizer and sides were good, but the steak was disappointing. Like I said, some highs and lows, if I’m ever in the area again I’ll give it another shot… but not the steak.
Tina was our waitress and she could be a very good sales person. She knew the menu exceptionally well, never had a negative thing to say about any of the food, she made sure we always had our drinks, was kind and had good customer service. My husband had the fish and chips and he had the steak and cheese egg rolls. Not much steak or cheese in the egg rolls but they were good. Horse radish is gross, not sure how people like that but to each their own. He wasn’t a fan of the haddock because he’s use to cod instead, but personal preference. He says the coleslaw was dry but he liked the fries. I had the beer and cheese soup and the thanksgiving meal. I absolutely loved my meal. The cheese soup you definitely could taste the beer, I thought that added really good flavor. The thanksgiving meal is your basic thanksgiving meal, but was great. The potatoes are yummy, good flavor. The butternut squash was the best thing on the plate. No complaints at all for my meal. Very big portions. Next time I would like to try either the shepherds pie or meatloaf. The prices are definitely reasonable for the amount of food you get. They had no mountain dew. Food coming out was very slow but when you only have one waitress on that shift it kinda makes sense. That’s not her fault. Just because I’m giving it a three star dosent mean I didn’t like it, delivery time took way too long, but the food was good and the service was excellent. Maybe consider having a hostess help out the wait staff or put a second person on to help them. Thank you Tina for your awesome service. We hope to see you again!
Overall, 3 stars! <3
The flight is a good deal 7 samples for 7.50. Beer is OK. I like probably 3 of the 7 for my tastes.
The spinach dip is good. Like the bread and chips they provide for it. Onion rings are good too but a tad too much seasoning salt.
The closed off atmosphere and sticky tables are enough to make me skip it next time
Update
Went again well this is the third time. Food is consistently good. But could definitely use a good cleaning.
Delicious food, large servings, great atmosphere/vibe, and sweet staff.
If you follow me, you can probably tell that my southern taste buds are suffering in New England. Not here!! All the flavor of any good grandma’s kitchen… And my goodness at these decadent dessert. Mmmm.
10/10, highly recommend.
Great food! Love the Summer Wheat. Pot roast was excellent, as were the beer battered clams and the small portion Fish & Chips! Excellent. Thank you!
This place has a consistent beer selection, the food is always good and the prices are great. We stop in here every trip to Maine. The pot roast is awesome.
