My friend and I were looking for a spot to grab a quick lunch and catch up on some business, and since we were both in the mood for a diner, we ended up at Uncle John’s American Diner in Goodlettsville.

The Vibe:
We arrived a little after 2 p.m., knowing they closed at 3, so the team was already starting to wind things down and close off part of the dining room. The place looks and feels exactly like you’d expect from a classic diner, simple, casual, and comfortable. It was clean, which I always appreciate. The only small quirk was that our booth table sat a little off-center, so we had to do a quick adjustment, but no big deal.

Service:
Our server looked like he might’ve just started, honestly, he couldn’t have been more than 12 (lol). You could tell he was new and nervous, but very polite and trying hard. When I ordered the breakfast croissant, he quickly said they were out, and another server jumped in to help clarify part of my friend’s order. Despite the small hiccups, everything was handled kindly, and he was genuinely nice.

Food & Drinks:
I went with the Breakfast Burrito, and it was good, nothing to write home about, but solid. The scrambled eggs were super fluffy, which stood out, and the salsa had good flavor. My friend ordered the Cowboy Eggs (two eggs over crispy tortillas with refried beans, cheese, and avocado). He felt the same, decent, but standard. He also mentioned his coffee wasn’t hot, more “end-of-day warm,” lol, which fit the late-afternoon timing. On the drive back, he said something didn’t sit quite right afterward, which was unusual for him.

Overall:
It was fine for what it was, clean, friendly, and typical diner fare, but nothing that would make me want to stop in again, even if I were close by.

Disgusting breakfast. Chicken fried steak was the worst quality I’ve ever seen, clearly the cheapest freezer option they make. I’d rather have great value frozen country fried steak or a banquet one, it was that bad. It smelled and tasted like fish so they also need to clean their oil. The hash brown casserole is clearly made from either from frozen or premade from the week and reheated. My daughter never complains anywhere, couldn’t eat the eggs, said they didn’t taste like egg and were awful.

Also they only had Mexican hot sauce, that I would use on tacos, not breakfast, no Tabasco, and the cheapest brand possible Valentinos. Weird for an American breakfast joint.

All to say, we split one breakfast meal and each had a drink and it was $27 before tip!!! Insane!

Without a doubt my favorite diner. I’ve been a regular here for well over a year, and the employees have become wonderful friends. Always, always, always a delight!

I absolutely love this place. I’d driven by this little gem many many times over the years but never had the chance to stop by until this past weekend. SOOO glad I did. My wife and I stopped in around noon but wanted breakfast. It was a good thing because they serve breakfast all day, every day. Awesome. The place was packed but they seated us right away, no waiting. All the staff were very friendly (which is becoming quite a novelty these days unfortunately at most places outside of Chic-Fil-A). The food was really good! and the prices were really reasonable too! It’s good to see a real, family run business doing well these days (at least I hope that’s the case). This place deserves all the accolades and compliments they get – And they deserve our support as a small, Sumner Co. community!! – Forget Cracker Barrel! Go to Uncle John’s instead!! I know I WILL from now on!!

Passing thru on way to Florida. Our waitress was, Jennifer, and such a delight! Food was amazing. Photos below. Ignore the 1 star review from the “Karen” obviously trying to promote someone else’s biz. Shame. Anyhoo, Super clean little cafe. Large variety. Happy faces on customers. I have no complaints. 5 stars. Worth a stop. PS I am a coffee snob. Theirs gets a 10 out of 10. To the owner, bravo on your fabulous biz ….. ~ and please order extra coffee cups so we can buy one next time we pass thru!!! So adorable. Love!!!! ♡

I specifically communicated with my server that I was unhappy with the food I received. She walked away laughing. I didnt recieve part of my order i was charged for.. all in all super frustrating and disappointing I have never had such terrible service anywhere. I will never return and wont recommend anymore. Paid $13 for a ruben sandwich and fries with literally two deli sliced pieces of meat on it. To add insult to injury, before ordering I asked if I could have double meat on my sandwich. Server said that wasnt possible. Went and check and then said it would be $5 more so I passed. What do the sandwiches come in frozen packages? What has happened to this restaurant it used to be good

I will add this is the first time in 15 years I have been upset enough to not leave a tip. I tip over 30% as a rule – Im honestly sorry that I didnt tip but this was just such a bad experience

Fantastic restaurant! We had gotten stranded in town while heading back to Michigan and everyone here at the restaurant and in town was so friendly and accommodating. The food delicious. I personally had the sausage burrito and pancake and would highly recommend. Larissa did an amazing job and was so kind and helpful. If you live here nearby or are passing through you will want to be sure to stop in to Uncle John’s Diner. You will not be disappointed!

Our 1st time here, the atmosphere laid back, for appetizer we had the onion rings. Then we had the Fried Catfish, the portions are amazing, the price unbeatable, you get 3 big pieces of catfish, coleslaw, hush puppies and 2 other sides of your choice. The food tasted amazing. The flavor was perfect. This place is definitely a treasure. Our server, Haley, was the sweetest person. We recommend trying Uncle John’s if you haven’t. I would rate this place a 10 if I could.
