Los Machetes is a must try in the RGV. Such a great menu with tlacoyos (blue corn masa), huitlacoche, tinga, pastor, and fajita. Tortillas are made fresh and are incredibly soft for corn. The machete taco itself is delicious with a deep flavor that you don’t find in any other place in the area. Top it all off with fresh, homemade horchata and you are guaranteed to have one of the best culinary experiences in the 956.

Let’s just say I’ll definitely be going back to take pictures of the inside of the machete before I eat it!

The machete ambicioso is the way to go I cut it and ate in 5 different sections so each bite was an experience.

My only regret was not trying this place sooner…you have to go check it out if you haven’t yet. Both the tortilla and the guisos were

Finally came and tried Machetes. The food was good…. Everything was very flavorful…. The homemade tortillas were sooo good!! I assumed the quesadillas were made with flour tortillas but no they’re corn and really good…. Soft, fluffy so so good!!! The salsas were tasty….i will go back to try the different fillings…. The pumpkin flower filling has me intrigued…. The service was great too!!!

Always the best food with the best service.

Ordered:
1. Hawaiian machete
2. Canibal machete
3. Fajita machete
4. Fresh Lemonade
5. Cold Mexican coke

The place has been open for a long time and for good reason. I’d stop in for just a bowl of pico de gallo if it’s all they had. Everything is fresh and delicious.

We had a delightful experience at Los Machetes Quesadillas, a hidden gem in a cozy plaza! We enjoyed a half puerco prensado and half chicken tinga quesadilla, and the flore de calabaza empanada was absolutely delicious. I also tried the rajas de poblano with corn sope—yum! We even tried the fried banana desert! We could have happily sampled everything on the menu. The friendly staff added to the welcoming vibe, and while the music was a bit loud, it didn’t detract from our meal. We’ll definitely be back soon!

My husband and I went for lunch on the recommendation of one of his coworkers. Upon entering; we were welcomed and seated immediately. Our waiter greeted us, took our drink order, and left us to look over the menu. We ordered a Machete Azteca, one empanada with tinga de res, a sope de picadillo, and one fried torta de chorizo con papa. The food was freshly made and hot. Everything we ordered was delicious!! I especially enjoyed the empanada and the machete. The green and red salsa were good, but their version of pico de Gallo was different. It was made with cucumbers, red onion, and orange bell pepper. It was different, but very good. It paired very well with the food. We also ordered fresh limonada, and that was freshly made as well. Word of caution ⚠️ u do have to pay for every every drink refill. Overall, it was a very clean restaurant, food was made fast and fresh, and I highly recommend this restaurant. We are definitely coming back!!

In my opinion this is one of the best Mexican restaurants! It’s a family owned place with great value and to die for quesadillas that are shaped like and have the same length as a machete. I ordered the beef quesadilla with fried plantains. The place is underrated in my opinion and I know San Antonio Mexican food well. Come on an empty stomach because the portion sizes are huge. Everything is made from scratch, including the salsa. Well worth a visit if you are visiting the RGV!

The food was delicious, piping hot, and authentic! The pozole had amazing flavor! The empanadas were fried and stuffed to perfection. Of course we had to try the famous machetes, and it did not disappoint. Meat was tender and juicy!

Never came across this place until I saw it on google maps and decided to come try for lunch. I never thought it would be something like this! We both got Machetes and they super big!! It had a bunch of flavor and the cheese was super melted and just couldn’t stop eating it! The meat as well was super juicy!! To drink we got a Mexican coke and it was a good combination! I will be returning back to eat this again!!! 10/10!!!!
