Saffron Indian Restaurant in downtown Freehold is surrounded by a variety of local dining options. Parking can be limited, which may be inconvenient. The food overall is average, with a few standout dishes such as the Lasooni Gobi and Kadai Paneer. However, some items were disappointing — the Chili Chicken was tough and rubbery, though the staff did accommodate by replacing it with Chicken Manchurian, which was also underwhelming. The dessert, particularly the Chocolate Lava Cake, was not recommended. While service was responsive, the overall dining experience did not meet expectations.

Darell was warm welcoming and friendly. The decor and restaurant ambience is nice. The eggplant was outstanding. The aloo Gobi and Biryani can certainly be improved upon. The Carrot desert was outstanding. Breads were good.

“Wow”. That was all I could mutter out of my mouth as I got lost in the amazing food Saffron provides. For background, I was in the area for a wedding when I googled Indian food in the area and decided to take a chance on Saffron. Upon entering the establishment I was pleasantly amused by the outstanding Bollywood music ringing through the speakers. The restaurant was very clean and the staff were extremely welcoming as well. Typically being Indian myself, I am accustomed to Indian restaurants, having been going to them my whole life. Anyways, after they ushered me to my seat, an Indian man with a thick gorgeous mustache greeted me. He said his name was John. And man, John was delightful and funny as anyone I have ever met. Little did I know I was speaking to the owner! He personally assisted me in choosing from the plethora of options on the menu. He recommended the Samosa Chaat to start off with and the Chicken Tikka and naan for the main course. John complimented me with a drink as I waited for the food (which was not too long at all). The mango Lassi was delicious! Sweet and not too thick, or thin. Absolutely the perfect concoction of consistency and sweetness! Then, the food came out. I was intrigued by the young man who brought the food to my table as he hasn’t wearing the regular attire of the other waiting staff. The dashing young man, took care e of me throughout and he introduced himself as (forgive me if I spell it incorrect) Sharill/Sherill? He then told me he was actually Johns son! Wow. I love a classic family business with owners who truly care about their customers. Sherill took care of every possible need of mine while I was there. Service an absolute 10! The food was amazing, savory, mouthwatering and flavorful. Of course being Indian I needed it a bit spicy and of course, they delivered! Who knew this trip to Freehold, NJ would lead me to the Gem that is Saffron! 10/10 I Highly recommend to all in the area.

Darry was our server and was so nice and accommodating. The food was amazing- so fragrant and flavorful! We got the chicken biryani, lamb roganjosh, and tandoori chicken tikka. The lamb was a bit on the tough side but the sauce was very warm and delicious. The chicken was amazingly tender for both dishes. Our favorite was the tandoori chicken tikka! We had enough to share between two people and still take home leftovers.

We had a wonderful dining experience at Saffron Indian Cuisine! We were greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere, complete with beautiful décor and soothing music that set the perfect mood for the evening. The menu offered a wide variety of traditional Indian dishes, and each item we tried was filled with authentic flavors and expertly balanced spices.
The appetizers were a great start—crispy gobhi and flavorful pakoras that were perfectly cooked. For the main course, the mutton curry was incredibly rich and tender. The garlic naan and tandoori roti were soft and fresh.
We also enjoyed the fragrant basmati rice and a refreshing mango lassi.
The staff was exceptionally friendly and attentive, always ready to offer recommendations and ensure we had everything we needed. The service was prompt, and **Wasim** made us feel truly valued as guests.
Overall, Saffron Indian Cuisine exceeded our expectations in every way.
