Reviews
This was my first time trying Indian food in Shreveport since moving to the area in 2020.
I went at lunch time to try the buffet which is my favorite way to eat Indian food. The buffet has about 16 dishes + a salad bar and is filled with high quality cuisine.
One man kinda runs the show. He’s tending the buffet, taking drink orders, and checking people out. He seems to know all the regulars by name.
The naan was great unlike what I had in Monroe recently. I pretty much tried a little of everything on the buffet and was impressed with the quality of the food.
A few minor nitpicks:
1. The lack of bowls with so many soupy dishes is a huge oversight. Having only plates doesn’t work for this type of food.
2. No dessert on the buffet. Not that I need it.
3. The temperature of the food on the buffet is a little low. I would enjoy it more if the food was hotter.
Would I go back? That is a definite yes!
Update:
I went back and had the same great experience as well as the same nitpicks.
And back again! Great place!
The man who owns this place truly cares about his guests and the food he serves them. It is obvious everything is made freshly to order and it is all so delicious!
They have lots of vegan and vegetarian options as well! And I cannot recommend enough that you get a side of naan AND the sweetened version with coconut! Absolutely fabulous.
If you are spicy food sensitive let him know and ask for no spice though!!
Otherwise I truly hope you check this place out- trust me you’ll be back!
Feb 2024 – Really good food and very nice owner. They have a tandoor, so tandoori items such as roti, kebabs, etc. are really tasty. My favorite dishes here are – prawn/shrimp balchao (ask not to make it too sour), lamb seekh kebabs (so juicy!) and samosas. People like the soya patties here too (I haven’t tried)! Also, love the garlic nan here. You’ll order another garlic nan after having one.
We tried the new Vindaloo. brighter and tangier than the previous rendition with a good heat. And we added Ghost Kali Mirch which is a complex, rich black pepper lamb with plenty of gravy. The rice is always aromatic and flavorful. With the addition of warm, fresh garlic naan, our dining experience was beautiful.
UPDATE: Lunch buffet is bountiful with a good variety of vegan, vegetarian, and meat dishes. A nice salad bar and a few Indian condiments are included.
The owner is a wonderful and lively and inviting man.
A beautiful atmosphere and comfortable scenery.
