First time eating at this wonderful little El Salvidorian restaurant.
The staff was wonderful! Jenny was so great about explaining to me all the various dishes and helped me clean up when when I dropped my phone in the créma and made a huge mess.
The food was made fresh, came out fast and was amazing!
Upon request, they added more Loroco Flower to the Papusas I ordered as I had never tried this vegetable before and wanted to get a good taste of it.
My experience was amazing from the moment I stepped in the door until I left with a full belly, ready for a nap and halfway into a food coma.
This place is definitely on my list for a weekly stop in for lunch! The dishes in the photos are:
1. Loroco & Cheese Pupusa
2. Pork Tamale
3. Pastelitos Salvadoreños
4. Yucatan Frita
All served with Curtido, various salsas and créma and presented nicely on 2 plates for me both of which were licked clean at the end.
I had a fresh, homemade and refreshing tropical fruit drink as my beverage. I cannot speak highly enough about this place and can’t wait to check out all their menus items!
Come check them out if you’re within an hour of West Asheville and want dome delicious food! It’s honestly worth any drive.

Omg my coworker had me try this place for the first time and wow was it amazing!! This was my first time ever having El Salvadorian food and I loved it! U have to try this place. Very traditional food made traditionally from scratch. A+++++

We loved the food here, everything was so delicious and the service was charming. We had the chicharones caseros plato, pupusas, and a chicken tamale, and camerones al ajillo platos. We really liked the variety on the plates, fried yucca, fried plantains, rice, beans and the fried pork chunks were all fantastic. It got very busy around noon!

In town on vacation looking for something different to eat . Food is amazing. Wonderful flavor and so fresh. We had tamales,pupusas and empanadas the owner explained everything on the menu to us and made suggestions for us and was just so sweet and pleasant. I absolutely love that everything is gluten free and fresh.. oh I will definitely be back. I 100% recommend a taste of El Salvador.

Wide menu selection, including items not usually available, like green corn tamales.
Lots of gluten-free options, including the papusas, which are not usually gluten free.
Celiac safe in my experience.
Small plates, but extremely reasonably priced. We ordered almost everything on the menu and it still was around $20 for two to eat.

Low-key and delicious This is one of our favorite places for easy take out. The desayuno, fried corn tamales and chicharones are family favorites. Bonus points for the drive thru pick up window and rotating agua frescas!

We love a good papusa in this house and we have tried them at papusaria patty and some made by a friend’s mother. She brought home 4 different types of papusas home one night for dinner from Taste of El Salvador.
The papusas were divine, we had the pork and cheese, bean and cheese, chicken and cheese and lastly the jalapeno and cheese. I have to say that their curtido (a spicy slaw) was by far my favorite of all I’ve tried. It was fresh, bright, and acidic with a nice soft heat. The house hotsauce was spicy and very flavorful, vinegar and spices were pronounced.
It is a small place with dine in and take out. They have 8 different papusas, a few tamales and some apetizers, and dinner plates. Very affordable and great quality. We will be keeping these at the top of our Papusa Choices.

This was some of the absolute best food I’ve ever had in my LIFE. We ordered a plate (plato) with everything (steak, chicken, shrimp, chicharrones) and fried plantains for dessert. One of each was enough for my son (age 5) and I to share, and we still took some home. I will dream of this meal for years. Yes, it was that good.

On food alone this place would be 5 stars. Does not look like much from outside or in, most food is served on paper plates. I started with the Salvadorean famous pupusa. One of the beat I have ever had. The cheese was hot and gooey & the pork had some amazing flavors. I am of Salvadorean decent and I am very picky about pupusas……these compare to my Mon’s! The Yucatan con chicharon, another country favorite did not disappoint. Yucatan was tender & moist, pork was amazingly seasoned and cooked. This place really reminds you not to judge a book by its cover. I had yet to find a great pupusa in NC but my search is over! I highly recommend this spot!
