It was our first time to hit this place up, we often drive by it and always say we need to hit it up. Well finally came the day we did, family and myself were very excited to try it!
We walked in they sat us pretty quickly since the restaurant wasn’t crowded. Our server came by a few minutes after we were seated and took our order. A few minutes later our food comes out, we’re like heck yeah!
To our disappointment food was very bland, our meats on our burgers were not cooked the way we ordered them. Our fries were a little cold. Keep in mind this was our first time coming here. We didn’t get any napkins, we had to ask different servers for sides, refills etc…since our regular server only came by once. He apologized he had a party of 15 but if that’s the case why not assigned a different server to our table or management could have added a couple more servers to the section we were in.
So not a very pleasant visit, we were so disappointed, we’re like yeah never again. Again super bland and cold food and service horrible but whatever we still left a tip for “all” the servers that helped out our regular server.
The restaurant itself was pretty clean, the wall decor nice as well. But food and service kills the visit.

Went for dinner tonight. Let me just say… they redeemed themselves 100%!!
The food was DELICIOUS!! Everything was made/cooked/served exactly the way we ordered it. Thank you Island’s (and Joey our server) for the great food and service!
So guys, if something isn’t great the first time, don’t just walk away… always try to give it a second chance. More than likely, you won’t be disappointed that you did.
Very clean and cozy. Easy to place your order by scanning a QR code at the table. We tried two burgers, one with teriyaki/pineapple and one with jalapeño/black pepper covered patty. Pineapple was a bit bland, but the one with jalapeño was amazing. Simply perfect.
Try the truffle fries, they are to die for! Over all, a great experience!
The service at Islands Restaurant was truly exceptional. The staff was friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure that my visit was enjoyable. They were knowledgeable about the menu and happy to offer recommendations. I felt warmly welcomed throughout my entire time at the restaurant.
Now, let’s talk about the food! I decided to try the highly recommended Kilauea burger, and it exceeded all expectations. The combination of flavors was simply mouthwatering. The juicy, flame-grilled patty topped with melted cheese, sautéed onions, and spicy jalapeños created an explosion of deliciousness with every bite. It was perfectly complemented by the slightly sweet and smoky notes of the Kilauea sauce. The burger was served on a toasted bun that added a nice touch of texture to each mouthful. I can confidently say that the Kilauea burger at Islands Restaurant is a must-try for burger enthusiasts.
To accompany my burger, I ordered a side of sweet potato fries. They were an absolute delight! Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, these fries were the perfect balance of sweetness and savory goodness. They were expertly seasoned and cooked to perfection, leaving me wanting more with every bite.
Beyond the delectable food, the lively atmosphere at Islands Restaurant added an extra layer of enjoyment to my dining experience. The tropical-themed decor, with bamboo accents and surfboard-shaped tables, transported me to a beachside paradise. The upbeat music and friendly chatter from other diners created an energetic and welcoming ambiance that made me feel right at home.
In conclusion, my visit to Islands Restaurant in West Covina was nothing short of fantastic. The combination of the mouthwatering Kilauea burger, delectable sweet potato fries, and the fun-filled atmosphere made for an unforgettable experience. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious meal served with a side of great service and an enjoyable atmosphere. Islands Restaurant in West Covina is a gem worth exploring, and I can’t wait to return for more delightful dining adventures!
