Love Viet Citron since they first opened in Burlington. The food has always been flavorful and consistent, and we feel lucky to have them closer in Somerville now. My daughter loves the crispy pork belly. My husband always goes for the banh mi. I usually rotate between pho, noodle bowls, or rice bowls depending on my mood. The meats are packed with flavor, the offerings feel unique, and we’re always excited to see their specials. The service is great too. Friendly people and always welcoming.

I had banh mi with pork belly and iced vietnamese coffee. The service guy took initiative and helped me order my food, which I really appreciate. The sandwich was delicious with an assortment of vegetables and sauce to complement the crispy pork belly. The coffee was sweet yet one of the most flavourful coffee I had.

The staff were very kind and professional, and the atmosphere is very cozy. However, this was overshadowed by the steep price tag –
I got a bahn mi, and opted for the tofu since it’s a good deal cheaper than if you add meat. The flavor of the veggies and the baguette were good, however, the tofu, while good in texture, lacked any sort of unique flavor and fell flat for me. Perhaps this is my fault for choosing tofu, but If I had spent extra on a meat option, the price would have been double what I have spent on better bahn mi in the area.
So overall, good vibes, and good flavors, but way overpriced for the quality – recommend eating in/in bow market, outside, because you are paying extra for the setting.

Easy to order online and pickup. Lemongrass Beef Sirloin Bahn Mi was fantastic as was their crispy Vegetarian Fried Egg rolls.

I got the crispy pork belly banhmi, and it was bomb! The pho from last time was also delicious. All the staff were really nice, but I wished this one middle-aged male staff could be a little nicer to his female colleagues. I had seen him yell at other female employees on two separate occasions. But he was nice with customers though. I just wish the atmosphere would be better the next time I come. Overall, good food, good quality, and great customer service!!

Viet CITRON has insane pork belly and the most flavorful grilled chicken pho. One of the best restaurants in the area! I will definitely be back to try more things. We’ve lived in Union for a few years and have been waiting for something like this!

Very delicious tofu ban mi! It was my second time there, and I was worried it wouldn’t be as good – but it was! Everyone there was very kind. Looking forward to trying more. And the drinks are a perfect level of sweetness.

I got the crispy pork belly noodle bowl. The food was ready within minutes and the bowl was super filling. The texture of the pork was perfect – super juicy with a very consistent crispy top.

Great flavors, but poor execution and annoying “data-grab” policies. The lemongrass beef soup broth was delicious, though the noodles were stuck together in a big clump. More importantly, their kiosk refuses to take payment without a name and phone number. I had to argue with the staff just to pay with a standard credit card at the counter. The food is good, but the forced data collection is a major turn-off.
Edit: The owner responded by calling me “paranoid” and accusing me of “defamation”. To be clear: the staff member I interacted with tried twice to convince me to enter my personal information even after I explicitly declined. I was only redirected to the adjacent counter to pay with a standard credit card (where another employee had to manually recreate my order) after I confirmed I was “dining in.”
Being a small business is irrelevant to a customer’s right to a private, straightforward transaction. If a system requires three verbal refusals and a manual workaround just to skip “optional” fields, the process is coercive, not convenient. The fact that management reacts to a critique of their UI with personal insults and legal threats is a major red flag for future patrons.
