I stood in the street and looked over the pictures of food offerings of the restaurants in this close area and decided to try Coconut Joe’s. By the time I left I knew I had made the right decision. Ordered the Grouper bites and shrimp nachos. Got extra sauces, cocktail, mango habanero and tater, along with the sauce that came with the fish. My wife and I enjoyed everything. The service and atmosphere were amazing! The place was clean. Just look at all the amazing pictures of the food people have submitted. And we took food with us since they give you more than most can eat.

Worst coconut shrimp I’ve ever had, over cooked and thin. We were told they were out of regular shrimp when we wanted to order the platter. I said I would pay an up-charge for coconut shrimp instead, but she said they didn’t like for them to do that. She came back and magically the kitchen finds regular shrimp. Also Google Maps says they are open until 10 but quickly found out they close at 9 because they were sweeping rugs all around our table while we were still eating. Ordered a key lime pie and received the tiniest slice after all that back and forth.

My experience here was not good at all. Last night my significant other and I dined in, and it was honestly very disappointing from start to finish.

Our waitress was apparently new, but she was not knowledgeable about the menu and seemed very unsure about everything. I ordered the Mahi with garlic sauce and it was not good at all. On top of that, I was charged for two salads when I only ate one.

I already had a feeling something was off because she took a very long time to return with my card. When I checked the receipt, I saw that I had been double charged. Instead of being honest about the mistake, it was just left for me to discover on my own.

The staff overall was about a 4/10. They were not very welcoming, and I also noticed another couple sitting for over 20 minutes without even receiving menus.

Overall, this was a very poor experience. I will not be returning, and I would not recommend wasting your money here. The restaurant really needs better-trained staff and waitresses with more honesty and integrity.

Had a great experience at the outdoor area. My server Alison was very helpful and recommend a few popular options. I took her recommendation for apps and got the grouper bites which I enjoyed. We also shared the shrimp nachos and also got an order of tacos. Would recommend and revisit!

I definitely recommend stopping by Coconut Joe’s if you’re in Folly. The bartender Bryce gave me some really good drink recommendations and made the whole experience better. Always nice when you run into someone who clearly enjoys what they do and takes good care of people at the bar. This restaurant has not only good food but great staff.

We love coconut joes! Alison was our server and suggested the crab dip and shrimp nachos and we were impressed with the depths of flavor on both. she was attentive and always anticipated our wants and needs. as locals, we will be back for sure!

The food was abysmal. Never had dried grits with potatoes in it. I thought the grits were famous but these were so bad. Just seemed like there was little seasoning on things. The shrimp was over cooked, the fish was only average, the crab dip was just a bunch of lump crab, no flavor or seasoning or dippiness. The coleslaw was from last month, couldn’t eat a single bite had to spit it out. Waitress was great but goodness me, the food can not be this bad all the time, right?

My mom and I came in from NC. This is our first visit to Folly Beach. We decided to go here on a friend’s recommendation. It did not disappoint! The food is hot, fresh, and very tasty. I got the 1/2 pound shrimp, and mom got the grilled salad. Both plates were large portions. It’s about 25 bucks for a plate, it’s very generous. The staff were all very friendly. Paige M. was our server. She was fantastic! Very kind and very attentive. We will definitely come next time we’re on the island! Thanks, Coconut Joe!

All you can drink and eat crab legs for New Year’s was 8/10. The only negative was how the majority of the seating was located on the open patio in 40-degree weather. The restaurant needed several patio heating towers upstairs. Also, It was a struggle getting utensils for the crabs. The DJ played great mixes! The unlimited drinks were flowing. Bathroom was clean. Everyone ate until they couldn’t eat anymore. Yummy sausage and fries. Tenders looked a little dry but I didn’t check. The tasty crabs were steaming every time they came out! Servers were very friendly! Diverse crowd. The price was right. We came from PA and OH, thanks for a great time SC.

Never again. Can’t review the food because we never got it. The restaurant was not full and there was at least 3 staff members on the floor. They were not swamped so the service we received was inexcusable.

The waitress asked if we wanted appetizers and then each of the first three we chose she said “We’re out of those.” How about say what you do have before even asking?? 25 minutes after placing a very simple order for 4 (2 burgers, a salad, and an appetizer as an entree), we still didn’t have our food. The waitress kept coming by asking “Is everything ok?” Why would you even ask that before people have their food??? No, everything is not ok. We don’t have any food.

The table behind us came in after we did and was either given our food or they just happened to order the exact same 4 dishes. At that point, I asked for the check with just our drinks. 2 fountain drinks, one tea, one lemonade… $16 .
