We came here just before closing, hoping to be able to grab a bite from a local restaurant and not have to resort to the McDonalds next door. The hostess checked with the kitchen (they usually close up shop back there a little after 9PM) and they graciously took us in. We got an omelette with toast that was buttered PERFECTLY, an amazing, hearty bowl of seasonal pumpkin soup, and a perfectly toasted Philly cheesesteak.

Everyone we interacted with was so sweet. Our waitress checked on us a few times, and neither she nor the hostess made us feel like a burden at any point (even though we certainly were).

Everything was also amazingly clean. There was no dust or crumbs anywhere.

Really high quality food compared to other diners. Lots of flavor in the chicken avocado sandwhich (although the chicken was tough to bite into). We had breakfast too. The potatoes had so much flavor packed in them. The biscuit is also buttery and soft. They grill it a bit to make it melt in your mouth. I recommend that over the toast.

Pros: clean— the bathrooms were clean, the floors were clean and the silverware was clean. Our waitress Bella was friendly and did a wonderful job handling a busy section. The soup was wonderfully flavored. The soda was perfectly refreshing. Now the cons; the mozzarella logs were cold in the middle but still somehow tasted good. The soup was lukewarm but again tasted good. The chicken quesadilla was very meh— and very pricey. Just a cheese quesadilla was $12. Add chicken, mind you very tasteless and rubbery chicken, for another $6. Very disappointed. Not only was it subpar, it took forever to actually come out. We’re talking 30 minutes. A couple next to us waited 20 minutes for a side salad. Hopefully this was a fluke experience but we will likely never come back. Please thank Bella again as she was wonderful.

I went to the Starway diner in Saugerties last night with my family. It was about 7 o’clock when we got there. It took a while to get seated and there was about 15 of us. It took us about 10 minutes to get something to drink and then we ordered an hour later, the order still was now not even the children’s orders. We didn’t order anything elaborate just cheese fried steak, burgers fries and that’s about it. Nothing fantastic so an hour went by. The kids were getting a little fussy I went in there and Aston White was taking so long and they said just a few more minutes and Lisa what about the children’s? I mean it’s nothing to make so they finally brought the children’s out. They’re about 10 minutes later. They brought ours out the french fries were as hard as a rock They cold. Everybody’s not just one. The children’s hamburger was so dry. They couldn’t eat it. The chili feast cheesesteak was soggy. The chicken on the roll was so dry. You couldn’t eat it. I complained to the waiter. He was very nice. He tried to accommodate us, but it just kept going on and on and on, so I asked for the owner and the owner came he was very nasty That we would think about complaining about his food. He did take something off the bill, but he said he was very, very nasty. The waiter was fine. He was just a little confused with everything going on, but I would not recommend the diner. I can’t don’t know what about the pizza place. I went there with my family a pond recommendation to the pizza place Because they are they said they’re fantastic but we all decided to go into Dynasty and we couldn’t order anything from the diner bringing into the pizza place or vice versa so we ended up eating at the diner. Big mistake. Should’ve went across the street to McDonald’s even though they are disgusting. It wouldn’t take an hour and a half for us to eat and everything was cold and we had we had to send it all back and I have pictures how bad everything was but I will not post them right now, but I would not recommend this place now. I know why it was shut down for four years

Absolutely amazing diner! And having lived in NJ for 10 years – the standard is pretty high – but boy did Starway not disappoint. Benedict was insane – killer hollandaise – and the core things like eggs, pancakes and waffles – top notch. Can’t recommend these guys enough – finally found our diner!!!
